4th Test: Australia v England at Melbourne Dec 26-30, 2013

To be fair, the way they are playing the morale is already at 0.
I don't think changing the captaincy now is the right thing to do, but they need to have a serious look at it after the series. Field placings and tactics have been plain embarrassing from Cook.

Cook definitely has to go but seriously sacking your captain at lunch on day 4 and for the one guy who will drive morale in to irreparable damage is plain dumb.

Field placing have been bizarre, to put it kindly, but their batting has been woeful and the captain has no control over that.

Doesn't matter how bad Cook is going, you simply can't replace him as captain mid-test that is completely unheard of. As if his confidence isn't shot enough, that will kick him when he is down and ruin the team even more. *Especially* if a parasite like KP is given it.

How is this discussion even happening.

So morale is going good right now is it? They're not looking like a rablle are they? English players are not upset as it is?

BTW Piers Morgan agrees with me. He is also saying to take the captaincy from Cook and give it to KP. Plenty of people think it is a good idea.

So if KP gets the job on the second session on the fourth day in a position where England are losing how long do you give him to turn it around before you sack him ? To tea ?

Your happy to have the same opinion a Piers Morgan?

Cook had 201 runs to apply some pressure to the Aussies ,now the runs needed has more than halved ,he has nothing to lose but try a different approach , ffs do what ever the aussies aren't comfortable with.

As I said, I wouldn't do it mid test. I'd do it at series end.
I would give it to Bell but Vaughan makes a good point about it possibly affecting him too much. I guess the only person that knows if he will be able to is himself.

Also, a captain is named pre-match and even if he's injured and can take no part in the match he's still the captain.

You physically cannot change a captain once a team has been named.

Or did statsguru not tell you that genius?

Bell is a well regarded captain when he's done it at county level. He's the best choice in my opinion. But if he doesn't want it, it shouldn't be forced on him.

Shame Swann retired, he's quite well thought of as a captain too and has previously led the ODI team.

The problem with the team isn't all because of Cook's captaincy.
They're in this hole mostly because of terrible batting, that's not his fault.
