Normally they play early Nov and the pitch is always fresh, most decks after christmas are belters. But it looks very dry for a day 1 deck with cracks and barely a green tinge. It's perfectly made for your best mate Da GOAT!!!

When AB started as skipper he was the only player earning a living playing the game, and when he retired they were all on the road to the gravy train. He missed the boat and never made the money others did but he never seems to be jealous no matter how much an absolute plank like Matty Wade is earning poldding it up.

Hardly a surprise the King suck up Tubby Taylor was the boards man while selfish Steve Waugh was on the players side especially State cricketers who got paid SFA before the dispute.

He wanted to retire after 1994/95 Ashes but didn’t want to go to Pakistan so said let Tubby deputise and get a taste of captaincy. CA / ACB said it wouldn’t be right so AB retired.

Sad that someone who played 100+ tests bowed out in such a manner and didn't get the big farewell that Warne/McGrath/Langer got at the SCG in 2007.

When I think about it, several 100+ test players were unceremoniously pushed out, most notably M Waugh, Boon and Healy.

M Waugh and Healy pretty much retired after being left out of the squad for the upcoming home test match in Brisbane, Boon was given the subliminal message from the selectors to bow out after being omitted from the 1996 World Cup squad (and the Aussies weren't going to play another test match for 9 months, would've been 36yrs old by then and Ponting was pretty much making the #3 spot his own from his ODI form)

Ponting and Hayden both played on one season too long IMO, but eventually got the "tap on the shoulder" by the selectors. Clarke also got the tap on the shoulder just before we lost the 2015 Ashes series.

Hohns tried his best to push him out which is amazing when he is now happy to pick absolute nobodies like Wade,Harris and Burns.

He was a fine captain and very good tactially but his batting was always pretty f**king average as captain. Poor Micheal Bevan had to bat @ 7 just to cover a captain who struggled to score a run for 18 months.

Never understood what Hohns had against him personally but clearly there was something. Even his dropping from the ODI side came across as arbitrary scapegoating, sure he hadn't had his best year but he wasn't performing badly. It was like he copped it for the fact the NZ worked out half our top order.

There was another travesty, Bev should have played near on 100 Tests. The excuses were laughable too. Deadset, 19k First Class runs at pretty much 60 across the strongest period in Aussie cricket history but he can't play the short ball?

If a spud like Wadey gets a 70 it's time for a parade and the backing of the selectors for another 10 decades. Hohns is yesterdays man and should be moved on for someone who knows what colour TV is,
