Test match sofa:

'Note to Glenn Maxwell; if Peter Siddle can play a forward defensive, surely you can too.'

By far our leading runscorer over the last 2 innings. So crap point is crap.

This is one is for you mate.

Steve Smith is 3 runs shy of Hughes's series tally, a run tally that Starc and Henriques are both ahead of Hughes in. All three have played less innings than your good buddy.

And one more, of all batsman scoring >100 runs, Hughes has by far the worst average sitting at 20 on this tour.

Even you have to admit he's been *overall* rubbish in India.

Most people that average 36 will score: 0, 78, 12, 108, 6, 36, 32, 112, 6, 15...

But Cowan just makes it easy for the statisticians: 34, 36, 38, 32, 30, 39, 36.

What a tryer he is! Such heart.
he's like jack hobbs, but rather than a reliable 50 every innings we get a limp 30 odd.

I wanna bump that thread by El Diablo about how NZ shouldn't be allowed to play Test Cricket. I honestly think we could beat Australia at home in a Test Series, probably a drawn series in Australia.

I honestly think Usi will take 4 wickets at a better rate. Keep your ridiculously out of form Watson, your piece of shit 4/3000, average of 8 all rounder Maxshit and your clueless can't catch keeper. I'll wait til our entire management gets sacked and Lehmann is coach and Khawaja gets selected every game to give him a decent amount of time to settle in like Cowan, Hughes and Warner all have had the luxury of.

We could do much worse than having Smith as our #6 for the long term future. I was far from a fan but in a time where our depth is limited he's grown on me and I hope he's on the plane to England.

There is no arguing against that he wasn't good in the first 3 tests. Some players were always going to need a certain amount of training on the job after we had so many retirements over the last couple of years and sent such a green squad to India.

He was poor but I reckon he has proven himself over the last 2 tests that he is worth persevering with. He's averaging 50 odd over the last 2 innings and keeping in mind he was only legitimately dismissed once.

Since he's come back to the squad he's played 7 tests against a number of world class spinners and on some very unfriendly pitches. In 4 of those 7 tests he has a score of between 45 and 87. Yes there is an ugly run of 3 failed Tests in the middle of that but considering those 3 were his first 3 in India I think he has shown enough to cement his spot for the time being.

I reckon we could beat this lot in Australia.

He really needs to sort out his technique against spin. He's shown he's not the worst against pace and with positive intent, but unless he addresses those faults he'll get owned by Swann.

Probably will survive but only because the team is atrocious and the selectors have a vendetta against Khawaja.

Should probably be opening.

This team playing in the current Test, definitely. Them with Clarke would be a different story, there's only two players I would be worried about, Clarke and maybe Siddle possibly running through us once in the series.

Pattinson is pretty decent too.
