Yeah, hard to see the point or justify it. I could understand co-captains, but 5? Can only assume there will be a lot of shuffling around with players on / off the field or not selected particular weeks.

Shows how pathetic the leadership within the group must be. How a winger in Maumalo gets a leadership role which must say a lot about Nofa. And for the third year in a row (Tamou and Mbye?) someone gets elevated to leadership without every playing a game for the club in Peachy over players like Twal or Garner shows we have no leaders.

I think Peachy is making an impression in the dressing room. He’s a cut above most of them skill and influence wise on the field and has experience in a number of positions and teams. I think Madge is seeing who will rise to the top of the bunch and go from their. I’m thinking Peachy. We need someone thats real leadership desperately and like u say their is no competition. Nothing wrong with the new guy being captain if he’s the right guy. How much Madge let’s him dominate..that’s another matter

Remember when everyone laughed at Daley for picking his captain on the bench. Well we are taking it to another level, one of ours won't even be play for half the season, Genius !!!

A coach whose name I won't mention in this forum did exactly the same thing about 3 years ago now. It didn't work and Tamou ended up being the captain. It seems like the decision you make when you are scared to make a decision,

Terrible decision. It does two things. One, it takes away the absolute prestige of the role. When one third of the team are captains, it is not that special. Two....and this reason is more damning.....it is telling the rest of the rugby league world that we have no true leaders in our club and haven't had that for quite some time.

I'm fine with it, as long as a different 5 are picked after say round 8.
That way, everyone gets a turn !
That's how it is done in the u/12's . . . and so it should be for the big guys too. Nobody gets upset, and everyone is the most important member of the team.
. . . in your best Oprah voice . . . "You're a captain and you a captain and you a captain"

You'd be a bit disappointed if you weren't a captain. I mean, who was 6th in line? That bloke must be pissed.

Peachey will bring the titans winning culture to the club
rhyno, you're like the 13 yr old boy that's in love with his 13 yr old girl neighbour . . . but just can't bring himself to declare it.
So he spends his time teasing her and calling her names.
But, deep down he just can't stop thinking about her.

It’s such a chicken shit decision…and what a selection this fab 5 are…
Doueihi…not even taking the field till halfway through the year and then will ride the pine until up to speed.
Brooks…scared of his own shadow, couldn’t captain a toy aeroplane in a f**ken sand pit.
Peachey…Not in great form last year, could be another retirement pay player. Hasn’t even played a game here yet.
Tamou…plays 10 minutes per week and bags the club publicly. Fair dinkum stealing money from us.
Maumalo…wtf, why would his name be in there? Pretty sure I’ve never heard the merkin speak before.

Without a leader and with these 5 captaining at times, this season will be hysterical.

So the club has been ridiculed in the pres yet again, it certainly deserves what they get.

When you read the clubs announcement,
Wests Tigers have today announced the club’s new leadership group for the 2022 NRL season.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce a five-man leadership group that will consist of James Tamou, Adam Doueihi, Luke Brooks, Tyrone Peachey and Ken Maumalo.

The five players, who were appointed to the leadership group by their teammates,
There's nothing wrong with it, a leadership group, appointed by teammates.
* Did some players cast their vote as a joke?
* Did some players put their hands up, not to be voted in?
* Did some get elected because they are truly leaders on the training park and the new and young players voted accordingly?
* Were the voters serious or taking the pi55?

Who knows?

What is wrong for me is the ending of the last line above,
The five players, who were appointed to the leadership group by their teammates, will share the captaincy duties throughout the 2022 NRL season.
If only they had put a full stop after teammates and not included the captaincy bit.

Was it the front office group from marketing who released the announcement without thinking (I'd say a common issue with this mob).

They cannot undo what has been done. But truly, what a clusterf**k.
