oh get over yourself wankers...

Brisbane would not have drawn 50k..

in fact...NQld haven't sold out the semi yet...piss off

50,621 - fantastic crowd

Don't want to keep the fight going, princess, but SEVERAL Broncos NON-FINALS matches have drawn 50k in the past few years.

LOL at New South Wankers. One good crowd, drawn from a huge population, btw two heavily supported Sydney clubs on a good night for footy at a central location with stacks of public transport and they're talking themselves up and bagging NQ for "only" drawing 22000 in tropical heat on a Sunday afternoon that made it difficult for regional fans to attend against the Warriors, with all their travelling support.

Congratulations...and LOL at your inferiority complex.

That's a bit duplicitous, isn't it?

You started this thread to question the 50k crowd on Sunday but now you're calling others "wankers" and accuse them of suffering an "inferiority complex" for questioning the Townsville crowd?

It's completely unsurprising that NSW fans would respond in this way when we have people like Desert Qlder saying they'd fill a 50k ground for a semi (despite being unable to fill a 25k ground) and generally being abusive. I see you've not called Desert Qlder a wanker, despite the evidence. This is also ignoring certain anti-NSW comments from Queenslanders in other threads in recent days.

Nah, Cheesie, I started this thread as a genuine inquiry to see what people thought. While I thought 50K was a good crowd, I thought it probably fell a bit short of being an excellent crowd, but that may have been because of unrealisitic expectations promoted by the media and some on here.

The crowd of 22K in Townsville didn't surprise me much, given the NRL's arrogance in the scheduling. I'm a STH and I didn't attend because of the heat and the fact that I'd have to drive 4 hours home in the dark to get some sleep before work this morning.

Reverse the schedule and Townsville would have got 25K and Sydney might have got 60K.

Just because I don't attack every viewpoint I read doesn't mean I support them. Desert's claim of a 50K crowd if the Eels/Dogs was played at Lang Park was pretty silly i thought but I was also fairly sure there'd be enough Southerners willing to correct him, so there was no need for me to chip in.

Fair enough I suppose. It still demonstrates a certain level of double standards in genuinely inquiring about attitudes to the NSW finals crowd then attacking (for want of a better word) those who give their attitudes on the Qld finals crowd.

I agree that the switch would probably have been better. I can't agree that it demonstrates arrogance. Again with the long distance travel sob story though. North Queensland fans are not the only ones that travel long distances to attend home games. Without some sort of solid evidence of the numbers of people who travel the ultra-long distances (say, over 2.5 hours) and how this compares to other clubs it's hard to give this particular aspect a lot of credit. Moreover, the fact that North Queensland fans travel long distances is not actually the NRL's fault. The NRL does a lot to accomadate the Cowboys and its special circumstances but on the rare occasions that they don't accomodate them I don't think it is fair to call them arrogant.

Cop out. If the NSWers in this thread are wankers then so is Desert Qlder. Moreover, most of the comments that seem to have prompted you to call the NSWers wankers were in response to Desert Qlder.

That is possibly the stupidest thing I've read on this forum in a while (and that's saying something!)

The population of Townsville is 140,000. The temperature is going to be over 30 degrees and conditions will be extremely uncomfortable.

The population of Sydney 4,119,000. This game was played at night in perfect conditions.

Yet Sydney manages just over double the crowd and you are boasting about that?

There is 1 team in Townsville (164 955 people according to the ABS site)

There is 1 team in Parramatta (154 158 people)
I think it's safe to say we should also count the Canterbury population in this calculation (136 032) which gives a total 290 190.

So if we project along those lines, to be 'larger', the Townsville crowd would need to be 28774.

I didn't take into account the Warriors fans that may have travelled (there certainly were some) as that wasn't even neccessary to show what a silly point you're trying to make.

There are 9 teams in Sydney buddy, and not too many people from the northern beaches would've been making the trek to Telstra to watch 2 teams that weren't their own (yes, I understand fans of those 2 teams might live on the beaches, but that is negated by fans of other teams who live in the 'local area' for the 2 teams.)

And just for your maths, the 'raw' crowd figure was almost 2.5 times as big.

Broncos supporters and memory can never be in the same sentence. Only in your pathetic world can conceding 108 points in tour last pathetic finals gasp as memorable. I'm sure bennet said to his side before they ran out - "It's OK if you get flogged today, because we won back in 92".

Maybe you can start another comp next year. make sure this time Reebs doesn't offer contracts to blokes who can tackle - or you'll be f**ked!

Well my memory isn't perfect I'll admit that.

For example I can clearly recall the last Broncos gf win. You know last year.

And I can remember laughing my ass off in 2001 when the Eels choked the big weenie. I can remember cheering the Cowboys on in 05 whilst the Eels raced to a 0 scoreline. I clearly recall being in stitches in 98 when the canary spastics played the most embaressing quarter of football in the history of the game.

But I can't for the life of me remember the eels last gf. Mind you I don't think I was born then so I have an excuse I guess.

It's a shame you weren't born. It's also a shame you didn't pay at least a little attention to the history of the game because then you might be able to correctly answer the following question:

Which is the only team to win three premierships in a row since the inception of the limited tackle ruling?

Past glory, I know, but at least I can still live in the present knowing that my team is still alive and kicking this year in all 3 grades.

And 68-22 still tastes sweet.

Is that you Dennis Fitzgerald?
No one gives a flying tomato about the lower grades except for the players and immediate family.
Oh and enjoy the club championships for which also no one gives a toss about

i give a sh*t about the lower grades.
