In terms of selecting an allrounder for the fifth test

Why didnt they pick Ashton Agar instead of Faulkner? Agar is a tried an tested allrounder as seen in the first test (more with the bat than the ball)

Bat Agar at 7 (Haddin at 6), and have a dual spinning option with Agar and Lyon?

Or am I too adventurous with regards to this move?

and its more than likely Jackson Bird was dropped for his non-ability with the bat. In an era with advanced bats and retired Chris Martins, Bird needs to be truly outstanding with the ball to have a place in the same side with Nathan Lyon- who is also quite feeble with the bat, but just not as non existent as Bird

You don't pick bowlers based on how good they are with the bat.

I'm interested to see if England go with Tremlett and how he goes. If this unit gets it together and stays fit he could be a real handful on Australian pitches.

Faulkners average in first class cricket is 7 less than what Hughes averages at #3 in test cricket.

And moving beyond Hughes, We can't bat for shit so they get rid of someone with a 1st class average of 43 (Khawaja) for someone with an average of 30 who has a highest score of 89.

We've managed to weaken an already incredibly weaking batting line up.

As for this summer, you do realise we'll have several shield games of form to go on before the 1st test? Way too early to be jumping on any bandwagons until we see who is in the runs at the start of the summer.

Poor BM. The universe just doesn't like him very much right now.
Who knows maybe before the end of the month Arsenal sign Rooney and Suarez while Hughes gets 300 in the first shield game. And a Blake Ferguson cherry on top of that cake.

But GI doing an ACL this weekend and Hughes building a duck farm this summer is more likely knowing my luck.

I think Bairstow only survived this long because of the fact they were still winning.

Woakes is a genuine talent, Kerrigan is a great bowler. They'll do some damage.

Martin Guptill, at doyen of batting, recently made Woakes look like the bowling version of one Phillip Hughes.

In an ODI. Have a go at his FC figures. He has been killing it for Warwickshire.

Khawaja wasnt playing well but to be made the scape goat yet again well hopefully he gets back one day. If I were him id be calling Haydos for advice to strengthen his game mentally.
