Good win for England. But all in vain.

Australia again unable to kick on in the top 4. But they win the Ashes. Battle of the bed shitters and we scraped home.

Next series will have plenty of new names. Should be a good one.

To get 334 a was decent effort. Let down by poor fielding in England’s 1st dig and shit batting in ours.

Really disappointing effort the last few Tests.

Drawing 2-2 against such a mediocre England side is definitely a failure. Questions need to be asked of Cummins, McDonald etc.

You basically lost 3 straight tests, you got away with one but have been outplayed for the majority of the series despite England basically gifting you a 2-0 lead.

Why are you that surprised though? How many big test series have Australia won away in the past 6 years?

Why can’t England ever make a contest of it down under?

the only decent Ashes series are in England and we have to endure late nights and crap weather to watch it.

England played a much more interesting brand of cricket but Aussies still has the little urn.

Argh that’s what I said numb nuts.

We’ve been garbage tactically and with the ball in particular.

To let bonafide plodders like Crawley, Bairstow and Brook score big runs against us is an indictment on our leadership.

Because our fine English gentleman cricketers can't hope with the feral lower class of Australian supporter, they feel like they've gone back in time seeing all the mullets.

This group's legacy will be remembered for underachieving.

Pakistan series in 2022 is the only series win on the road in past 7 years.

WTC final win may be a trophy but let's be real we got there based on our flat track bullying at home.

Carey's dropped catch of Brook in the first innings proved to be costly in the end, given the 49 run margin. Dropped on 5, went on to score 85.

Nevertheless, Cummins blundered at the toss, electing to bowl first. Deja vu of what happened 4 years ago with Tim Paine. Had we batted first, we had the chance to bat England right out of the contest and put all the pressure on them right from the getgo. Murphy, instead of Ali, could've been the bowler bowling on that scuffed pitch today enjoying the spoils.

Australia retains the Ashes, but will be disappointed with the 2-all scoreline. Deep down, they know they should've won the series when an analysis is done of the series after arriving back home. Another 50 runs at Headingley would've been enough to win the series. Missed opportunity, the Headingley curse strikes again. The whole momentum of the Ashes changed with the England win in that test. Inclusions of Wood and Woakes made a huge difference

Also, poor selection decisions, most notably the omission of Neser not playing any part in the Ashes, given his outstanding form in County cricket. What more does the guy need to do for selection???

The FBC loyalty is fine given there records but history shows the deeper into a series we get they start to wane.

Gabba 2021 against India starc, cummins and haze were cooked after 4 tests in 4 weeks including bowling all day in sydney we played all of them for the final test and look what happened India chased down 330.

Same here one of them needed a spell and we needed a fresh injection didn't matter who got rested just needed fresher legs.

On England makes you wonder what a cock up it was they didn't have woakes or wood in from game 1 instead of a plodder in Ollie Knobinson.

Wood may not have lasted the series but woakes is pretty dependable and could have played all 5 tests.

The moment Knobinson went off injured at Leeds. England have dominated the rest of the series since.

Weird series, for sure. English certainly rattled Australia, but Aussies have the Ashes. Don’t know that anyone will be overjoyed, except Baz who’ll have a narrative

Combined XI:
Khawaja
Crawley
Smith
Brook
Head
Stokes
Carey
Woakes
Starc
Broad
Wood

Root unlucky.

Forget Bazball, the series turned to England's favour when they picked Woakes who was outstanding. I reckon if England had dropped Anderson straight away and brought in him and Foakes the series would have been won by them.

Australia's new ball bowling and field settings with the new ball was shambolic, Crawley played well but Duckett should never have been allowed to score like he did.

Tactically Cummins was horrid and the advice he got from his coaches was terrible. They knew how England were going to play a long way out but had no plan A let alone plan B or C.

It will be a very different Australian side who tours England in 4 years time.

Anyway, ashes retained and world test championship won, although it feels like we just scraped into the top 8.

Wow couldn't last 40 overs, pathetic.

Since Jonny Fatslow trundled out of his crease at lords we have. been bullied and dominated by a pretty f**king average English side. Bazball was designed to beat us and it's only through the Poms stupidity and arrogance they didn't. As soon as someone puts it back on us we piss ourselves quite pathetically, the tactics were the worst i have seen from an Aussie side ever. Un Australian even, fast bowling captains don't work because you could see the captaincy and workload had totally wore Cummins down and he needed a rest but because he's the skipper he plays. The whole coaching staff and their plans if you can call them that seriously need a massive overhaul. But who am i kidding we will flog two average sides out here this summer and all will be well again.

It was a Pathetic effort by England, you’re right. Losing doesn’t matter in Bazball though which is handy considering how good England are at it.
