Says the bloke who thinks Watson and Ferguson were running brilliantly when they were a run out waiting to happen.

Did you honestly watch our innings? Because I doubt you did. Watson was in no hurry to get a move on and it cost us.

Oh they were, were they? Funny...because as far as I can tell, that run out is still waiting to happen

And yes, his score of 116 definitely cost us the game, I can see how you think that when the next best score was 41 and the bowlers couldn't defend the highest target of the series

Jeez you really do miss the point, don't you?

HE SPENT THE LAST QUARTER OF THE GAME POKING AND PRODDING WITH NO INTENTION OF UPPING THE TEMPO. FMD, how do you miss this? I haven't referenced strike rates and I haven't said how terrible it is he scored a century, I am talking about his lack of determination to atleast attempt picking up the run rate and once he got into the mid 80's he basically gave up any chance of picking up the pace and had both eyes on his ton when we had wickets in hand.

Six wickets in hand FFS and he showed no urgency.

And, yeah, they were a run otu waiting to happen and if Pakistan weren't the second worst fielding team in the world it would have happened.

Oh I understand your "point", it's just really really geniused...and there are several reasons for that.

-Watson was utterly rooted...batting 50 overs in 45 degree desert heat will generally do that for you

-The pitch had slowed right down; Ferguson is a fair hitter and he mostly had such a good strike rate from quick running. He didn't hit many boundaries either, in case you missed it?

-You said it yourself, he was struggling to pick the chucker, and had to focus on keeping him out instead of trying to belt a bloke he wasn't picking. But I'm sure you'd rather he'd have gone for it anyway and holed out

If I was the oppossing captain, I would be absolutely rapped what went on in the last 14 overs, with 6 fresh wickets in the sheds.

If I was Hopes, I would be shaking my head and itching to get out there

Never watched a more selfish innings from a player before... some of Clarkes test innings come 2nd to this.

He was just poking the ball around like a toss to get his 100.

110 off 50 overs. :sarcasm:

Yes and scored a similar hundred off 50 overs..we defended that score

I don't recall power plays occuring late in the game back then do you?

Watson looks like a sad thing when he cant hit the ball. How many times did you back in you're loungeroom wanna smash the ball out of the park for him. Something he couldn't do.

Under Pressure he'd have no balls locky. Face it! If we lost the series because of it - then would you have blamed him?

It was an 'all for my survival' performance.

Ferguson was a great example of totally opposite - should have been run out 3 times. Unselfishly running on everything.

I would rather get 116 n.o than nothing at all. Blame the other batsmen who did nothing, don't blame Watson. It was a good innings, could it have been better, possibly, but they bowled well in stages, especially towards the end. The fact is we should have defended that score.

The way we bowled we would have needed over 300..that is how BAD we bowled. That was not a 280-300 wicket. It was a 220-260 wicket, yet our bowlers were shocking except for Hauritz who was our best bowler by a mile.
