Cook gets the second 50 scored by any opener this series (there's been 5 openers) and his 2nd for this match. Purportedly his last.

Very disappointed about this. 33 and class - too young to retire after a lean trot. Class player, premature and ill conceived retirement.

Cook tons up - ridiculous retirement.

If he was wise he'd skip SL and goto WI then Ashes.

Well played Cook. Century in his final innings. Good luck to whoever takes his spot. Big shoes to fill.

He's going out on top. Fitting way to go.

Not sure why people want Cook to continue on,

He has been real poor this series (aside this dead rubber test)
on par with Jennings, with Jennings scoring 20 odd more runs

Being his last test he is obviously giving it his all mentally knowing its the end, motivation is short term
Deck being a dry one helps too

Right decision to retire

No. Form is temporary. He's only 33 with over a decade of proven class behind him and over 200 runs this test!

yup his 5th test form is temporary alright ;)

2018 - prior to his retirement announcement

9 tests
16 innings
298 runs
18.63 average

2017/2018 ashes in Australia, did nothing in the "live" tests

will be 34 in a couple of months ;)
