Lupoli signs pre-contract agreement with Fiorentina

Arsenal striker Arturo Lupoli will join Fiorentina at the end of the season, the Italian club have announced.

Lupoli has agreed a five-year deal with the Viola which will commence in June.

The 19-year-old joined the Gunners in 2004 from Parma but made just one Premiership appearance.

He is currently midway through a season-long loan spell at Coca-Cola Championship high-flyers Derby County.

Lupoli is an Italy Under-21 international and scored on his debut for Pierluigi Casiraghi's men in their friendly against Luxembourg in December.

Injuries stack up for FA Cup replay at Blackburn
Blackburn Rovers v Arsenal
FA Cup Round 5
Ewood Park
Wed, Feb 28, 2007, 8pm
By Richard Clarke

Arsène Wenger has been forced to make numerous changes in his squad for the FA Cup Fifth Round replay at Blackburn on Wednesday night.

The Arsenal manager could be without as many as 10 first-team players and, as a result, may take some of his ‘Carling Cup youngsters’ to Ewood Park.

“There are plenty of changes but it will still be a strong team,” the Frenchman told Arsenal.com on Tuesday.

“We have lots of injuries. We don’t have Adebayor (suspended), Thierry Henry (foot) and Tomas Rosicky (groin). At Cardiff on Sunday we also lost Abou Diaby through an ankle injury and Kolo Toure who was sent off. Fabregas will be rested as well.”

The injuries don’t end there. Justin Hoyte is troubled by a hamstring strain picked up at the Millennium Stadium, Johan Djourou is struggling with an ankle complaint while Mathieu Flamini is doubtful with a foot problem.

Robin van Persie will definitely miss the game of course. His prognosis is still anything between four and eight weeks because of the broken metatarsal he suffered against Manchester United on January 21.

Fortunately Wenger has some experienced players in need of games.

“William Gallas is coming back,” he said, “so are Hleb and Ljungberg. They will be involved. Denilson will be there aswell. Clichy (foot) is in the squad but I am not sure he will play.”

So assuming the guys mentioned are all out we're looking something like this -

Lehmann
Eboue / Senderos / Gallas / Clichy
Ljungberg / Gilberto / Denilson / Hleb
Aliadiere / Baptista

Bench - Almunia, Fabregas, Traore, Walcott....

 I thought that as soon as I posted it.

0-0 at HT.

One of those games where our passing hasn't quite been there and lacking the final ball.

Our first touch and finishing has cost us 4 goals. Aliadiere, Baptista and Ljungberg all miss controlled when they would have been one on one with the keeper. Baptista put a header just over the bar from a Denilson freekick that perhaps he should have at least got on target.

Traore having another good game down that left. He's only 17, but Clichy has some pressure coming for that spot. Denno doing well in the centre.

Hleb looking dangerous at time but lacking the movement off him from say a Rosicky, Fabregas and and Henry. He seems to get lost after a turn or beating someone as the next runner hasn't made it.

Aliadiere is busy as always. Baptista doing ok.

Gilberto has sprayed a couple but he's doing a good job in front of the back 4.

Back 4 haven't really been put under much pressure and Almunia hasn't had to make a save of note as yet. Gallas and Sendo looking solid and Eboue going ok. He hasn't got forward much. He picked up a knock (was nasty looking) very early on when his calf was stepped on while he was trying to run. It looks like he's struggling with that as he's not getting forward much.

Freddy is working hard as he does. Good run into space which Denilson found, but his control cost him a shot on goal when he only had the keep to beat. Possibly should have had a penalty for Emertons challenge on him too.

We've looked the more likely, just gotta put a chance or 2 away!

C'mon yellows! :D

Quite a boring half.....
The Arse should of had a penalty when Emerton accidentally clipped Ljunberg's legs.
I think here has been only 1 or 2 shots on goal - Both from The Arse.
Rovers need to pick up their game. Hopefully Mokoena will be subbed for Dunn soon and we'll play alot more attacking.
How bad are these commentators on ESPN!

Good luck guys

Never the greatest the ESPN lads. Have their moments (like the Great Sonaran)

Back at ya. But hopefully not to much. You've had enough luck with our miscontrolling front men

60th minute, Theo on for Eboue, looked like he was limping still.

Gilberto to CB, Gallas to RB and Hleb into the middle.

And we paid for it.

Phil is too slow to be at RB. McCartney beat him easily and burried a shot.

Gone.

Paid for not taking our chances and sloppy passing in this.

Never looked likely to concede until that.

And Poll can get f**ked. How Dunn is still on the park I don't know. He's done nothing but foul. Got booked then the tug back on Ljungberg should have been a second. Poll should have played advantage on that one as Freddi had Theo open out wide and in on goal.

Damn it!

I assume you have an answer for why he wasn't off and for why Poll didn't play advantage?

Thought not.

lol i bet he's got an answer as to who has advanced in the FA cup.

well done rovers. such an inconcsistent side but 9 tiime out of 10 are very dangerous and can spring a result such as this one.

I assume he does. But he still won't have any to the questions I asked.

It's not being a sore loser having a spray at Poll anyway  He's cr*p. My post about him was the result of 90 minutes of having to put up with him. :D

Blackburn are the sort of side that can pull a result out from time to time. But to be honest, they didn't look likely to score till Sendo escorted his man through to goal.

We simply didn't put them away today and the first half missed chances cost us.

Oh and congrats Juggy. Home tie against Man City now. Every chance to get to the semis.

I also expect to have that article in my email now about Sonaran

As a Chelsea supporter, even I can see that Dunn should have gone. Poll is a disgrace as a referee and shouldn't be in charge of a football match at any level.

As for the game itself, Arsenal never seemed to adjust to the physical aspects of Rovers' game today. Clearly out of sorts and very tentative (fair enough too - who wants to be hacked?). They did have their chances though, and the bulk of the possession, and really only have themselves to blame.

I guess at least they can turn their main focus to the Champions League and ensuring a place in Europe in the Premiership.

Frustrating morning, we got a few things wrong with our tactics, had Poll to deal with, didn't make the best of our chances and then copped the sucker punch which was a good finish after a walk in the park through on goal.

Almunia - Didn't have a great deal to do. Dealt with the high balls with easy and couldn't do anything about their goal.

Traore - Continues to impress. Runs out of gas after an hour, but he's still 17. Up and back down that left flank and does it well. Has a good future ahead of him.

Eboue - That injury he picked up look like it would have hurt. He didn't get forward at all after that and came off on the hour mark with a limp. Proved to be vital with Sendo pushiung out to the right.

Gallas - Getting fitter. Had a solid game. Still a little bit of 100% but he's coming along nicely. Looking forward to him and Toure together.

Senderos - The man of the hour. Can't blame him to much as Wenger shouldn't have put him at RB when Eboue went off. The bloke can't pass to save himself (compared to his team mates) and he lacks some toe. Was far to easily beated for their goal. He was having a solid game in the middle. No right back though.

Hleb - Worked hard again. As I said at HT he missed a player like Fab or Tom making that movement around him.

Ljungberg - Worked hard all game. Looks to be getting back to full fitness. Still has something to offer us with his off the ball movement.

Gilberto - Had one of his poorer games as skipper. Was solid in defence but his passing let him down today. He has those days occasionaly.

Denilson - Didn't stand out like he did at Liverpool and against Sp*rs. But still had a solid game. Some strong play, good passing and movement. A real talent this guy.

Aliadiere - He's a worker. Never stopped but doesn't get into goal scoring positions enough. Needs a predator type partner.

Baptista - Possible one of his better games. Dropped deep to get the ball at times. Couple of good strikes on goal, one brilliantly save by Friedel. Not sure he'll make it, but he's trying. Sort of player that can impose himself on the game if he gets it right.

Subs -
Walcott - Got involved a bit and created some openings down the right.
Clichy - Done his thing. Solid player and a big future.

Some good positives out of the game.

Very disappointing to go out, but you get that. We've got time on our side with this bunch coming along nicely.
