SWJ, I think the difference here is that these guys are ultimately representing the NRL, the club they paly for and the location of that club. They can't have these representiatives breaking the law as it lowers people's opinion of the game quite highly. Unfortunately, rugby league has a lot of problems with players' socail lives getting out of control and so this sort of action needs to be taken. It is sad that these people's personal lives affect their can affect their career so horribly, but the fact is that the NRL and all of it's franchises can not afford to have people who represent them bringing down the game's reputation. No-one cares about some random bum on the street, he is only representing himself and probaby already has a bad reputation as it is.
