I prefer dogs. Then again, we've had one since I was like 3 (the same one, actually), so I've grown accustomed to them.

Wouldn't mind a cat though..

Problem cats are generally only a problem because of the imbecile that owns / owned them. I have two, they don't leave the house and are pretty much the perfect pets. They sleep while I'm at work and are usually full of beans for the period of time when we are home and awake. They sh!t in a box so you don't have to go looking for it and couldn't care less if you haven't got time to spend with them on a given day. They are de-sexed so their won't ever be any random Kittens roaming around. It annoys the hell out of me that people get them and then just let them roam free, thinking that all they have to do is feed them every night.

If you are getting a cat, get it de-sexed and keep it in the house. They are territorial so they have no problem living in a small area for their entire life. They keep themselves clean but I tub mine once a week anyway and if you get them used to it early, they aren't too bad when you chuck them in the bath.
