Good taste of competitive footy for the young guys!
bodes well for our season.. Tomkins eased off ..maybe Elliot told him!

Tomkins was no doubt just getting himself into default mode as a Warrior. You know, build us up, only to crash us back down with a thud.

Yes, I'm back in WellyTown. OB & Ali were great minders and it was a great move, on Eden Park's part, to provide the shittiest beer at a ludicrous price, to stop me from drinking.

The 9's was such a fantastic event and I'll definitely be back next year.

Wouldnt mind getting other peoples thoughts of highlights (on field)

There were a few players who stood out for me

For the Warriors, Johnson and Tomkins were great. Hurrell stood up as well.

Across other teams, Ben Hunt from the Broncos was impressive, Nathan Gardiner from the Sharks was very effective. The two Jasons from the Cowboys (Tamou and Taumololo) stood up, especially in the final.

The Eels and Panthers were surprisingly good (in the pools). A bit surprised that James Roberts wasn't selected for the Panthers, thought he would have suited the 9s format.

For me, I had predicted a Warriors Vs Broncs finals, with the Titans being a threat. Never thought the Cowboys would take the win until they bet us (and even then, I still bet on the Broncos, i think that was heart more than head though)

Of course watching Fitler and Menzies was good too.

Jenny May looked like she'd played alot of touch before!

James Roberts has I think it's a broken ankle so he wasn't going to be in the nines or any game for a while.

I didn't really think Hurrell stood out that much personally, certainly wasn't as destructive as he was capable of.

In terms of other teams, I thought Feki went really well along with Winterstein who was subsequently picked in the team of the tournament. Tedesco went well especially since his team was a mess.

Mullen looked really good until his injury.

Fui Fui was all class..

did you know, when the eels ran on, there was not 1 white face in the team ?

for us, SJ, Tomkins, Tui Lolohea, Matagi, Connie, Sione Lousi and Kata were very good. Ikahahifo was very good too.

Loved the 2 days

Tried to do you boys a favour on Sunday night and tried to find Shaun Johnson who went missing in the big game but all I found was a drunken Jamie Soward , hope somebody has found him by now anyway

The player of the tournament for me was Fifita, what as absolute weapon

Did you find DCE? Not sure he made it to the tournament at all?

A consortium of cashed-up businessmen is reportedly sounding out the prospect of a rugby league Nines tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
Millionaire Marwan Koukash, owner of English Super League club Salford, is said to be spearheading the group eager to expand the nine-a-side game following the success of last weekend's event in Auckland.
According to Rugby League Week magazine, Koukash has been inspired by the popularity of cricket's Twenty20 competitions around the world.
"I know they might have tried a Nines competition before but bring it back with razzamatazz and make it attractive for another broadcaster to come in and bring in some more money," he is quoted as saying.
"Look at Twenty20. The traditionalists would've gone mad at the thought of it, but look how popular it is now."
North Queensland won the NRL's inaugural two-day event in front of a sold-out crowd at Eden Park last weekend.
