I am still a firm believer in the top 5 which will not eventuate as the NRL would lose too much money. So I look at the Top 6 system I read in one of the Sunday papers. It works something like this:
Week1
#1 and #2 miss the first week of the finals
G1 #3 plays #6 at HOME (elimination)
G2 #4 plays #5 at HOME (elimination)
Week 2
G3 #1 and #2 play in a major semi final, winner straight to GF
G4 Winner of G1 plays Winner G2 in a elimination final
Week 3
G5 Loser G3 vs Winner G4; winner to GF
Week 4
G3 winner vs G5 winner
Points of interest:
* Winner of G3 has one week off after the completiton of regular season and then has another week off if winning in the major semi...alot of pro's and con's there
* Where is G3 played ? Is it played at #1's HOME or a neutral field ? If played at home, #2 forfeits a HOME game in the finals. Fair ?
Just my 2c..
