Geez talk about slash your wrist supporters!!!
You guys have been building yorselves up on paper for so many weeks now, you were bound to get knocked heavy.
I actually think there are a heap of good things to comke out of the game.

1. We have not cured the middle of the park defensive problem. On Mcgoldies performance today, i want Jarrod back. Lucky he didn't have a Pearl or an ET running at him thats for sure.
2. Lomu can't catch.
3. Reick massive improvement. Just close to the line defense.
4. I can see what Bird can do now. He has a big step. Not once did his supporters put themselves in the right position FOR HIM.
5. Gallen & Bosnich aren't up to it.
6. Sullivan was excellent.
7. Noddy can't kick AT ALL but his defense is much improved. I was surprised he didn't try more with attention taken away from him by Sully.
If they were trialling for spot, on todays form, Sully would be in.
8. Bailey is having a go but did not get decent ball today.
9. Saleh must have led the hit ups. He was there to take the second hit up countless times. His postioning was excellent. No deficincies in defense down his side whatsoever.
10.Stevo & Beatts were great.
11. Peach had a dig & had fun. Just a matter of time now.
12.Isemonger. CYA in 3 months
13. Hilder CYA in 3 months
14. Nutley good
15. galloway excellent.

Overall, I expect some big improvements as the combinations grow.

Bigger picture people. Bigger picture.
It's going to happen. just maybe not in everybodies "undefeated mindset"

Reefy, I remember a thread which was asking about whether we had a solid enough pre-season. My opinion was that I didn't think it was solid enough, only playing the Eels. You thought that we did have a good enough pre-season. Do you still hold to that theory??

You see, my opinion is that by the time round 1 of the regular season arrives its time to hit the ground running. Obviously we didn't do that tonight. I do agree that you build a season, but you still have to be sharper than what we were tonight.

I am one VERY disppointed supporter.

Thoughts???

nope, I was happy with the prep.
At the end of the day, the best prep is playing NRL.
Trials are just injuries waiting to happen for mine.

Today was just one of those days.
A different team, different ref a different day, it could have all been different.
As long as they make the require adjustments to the team, I'm happy.
Actually very happy with Reick, Bird & Sullivan.

I still reckon we need to give Lomu a chance - had a shocker last year and apparent problems with Sticky - but the year before that (2002) he was a great impact player for the Chooks - he got 10 minutes in the GF last year (what a waste of a bench position) and he's just played his first game with the team - yes his knock on lost the game - but we shouldn't have been in a position that that try mattered

Exactly

I've been silently pessimistic leading up to this game but trying to be upbeat in public

But deep down I've been dreading it
an even comp and we cant even beat the Tigers...even Manly and NQ will give us a run for our money
How are we going to beat the Dogs and Roosters?

That is quite possibly the best post I've ever seen from you, Reefy.

Yeah I agree with most of what BTR said. (Strangely enough) Except his comments about Saleh. I think we have to find a sponsor for him, ummmmm maybe Jayco? He looked like his legs were filled with concrete or was towing a caravan. DEAD slow , didn't attempt to combine with Peach on kick returns and was hardly the strong powerhouse that some people have described him as. Actually his overrall enthusiasm was badly lacking. Franze or Simmons were better options out on that wing tonight.

As for McGoldrick, they made breaks on his side continually. He definately needs a good stint in Premier League.

We have to get Bailey closer in to do some damage and not at centre. Galloway was sensational and probably made the most yards than any forward out there tonight. Why did he come on so late?

Bosnich experiment is OVER! Way to slow from dummy half and it was no coincidence that we looked sharper once Sullivan was controlling the ruck.

Reick was our sharpest back out there tonight. Always looked dangerous when given some room. Good combo's with Peach.

Bird..........Sorry let's look elsewhere for 5/8. Unfortunately there's not an awful lot of choice. Maybre Aitken isn't ready and we should maybe give the job to Vagana?

Kimmorley, kicking game was shocking. To many cross field bombs and not enough grubbers. General field play kicks were average as well. Didn't rev the team up like he normally does.

Lomu was powerful in defence and running the football. BUT hold onto the ball son it's not sevens football!!!!!! His last fumble cost us the points tonite as well.

Gallen not up to it. Hilder very quiet. Beattie is not frightening any more. The years have certainly caught up to him last year and now the first week in this season.Stevens was solid. Isemonger? NEXT please!

Thats true, we have.

I actually think there are a heap of good things to comke out of the game.
Crap. If Ando was still coaching, you'd be singing a different tune pal. That was the worst game I have ever seen.

1. We have not cured the middle of the park defensive problem. On Mcgoldies performance today, i want Jarrod back. Lucky he didn't have a Pearl or an ET running at him thats for sure.
2. Lomu can't catch.
How are those 2 things good?
3. Reick massive improvement. Just close to the line defense.
Most of us already knew he was worth keeping around. His close to the line defense let us down once.
4. I can see what Bird can do now. He has a big step. Not once did his supporters put themselves in the right position FOR HIM.
5. Gallen & Bosnich aren't up to it.
6. Sullivan was excellent.
Agreed.
7. Noddy can't kick AT ALL but his defense is much improved. I was surprised he didn't try more with attention taken away from him by Sully.
Noddy's kicking game is not that bad, he does need to take on the lline more though.
If they were trialling for spot, on todays form, Sully would be in.
I don't think Sully was good enough to replace Brett Kimmorley.
8. Bailey is having a go but did not get decent ball today.
He should go better in the forwards.
9. Saleh must have led the hit ups. He was there to take the second hit up countless times. His postioning was excellent. No deficincies in defense down his side whatsoever.
Any credit to Saleh is deserved but I think a fit Merritt will replace him. Good to have him there as a back up.
10.Stevo & Beatts were great.
Stevo yes, Beats not really. He wasn't as bad as some.
11. Peach had a dig & had fun. Just a matter of time now.
Hmm, I hope so, last night showed 2 or 3 glimpses of it but I am not as confident as I was on that.
12.Isemonger. CYA in 3 months
13. Hilder CYA in 3 months
Isemonger did little, Hilder didn't play as well as we know he can but he deserves another chance.
14. Nutley good
Not that good.
15. galloway excellent.
Agreed.

Overall, I expect some big improvements as the combinations grow.

Bigger picture people. Bigger picture.

I hope so, but until then, last night was total rubbish and even the most pessimistic of us would have expected better.
