Maybe you should be coach Reefy????
Easy to make judgement sitting at a pc or in front of a TV.
You over rate yourself mate, simple as that.
Yeah we lappsed in the 2nd half but the guys on the field were the same in the 1st half.....Rapers fault we let them back in ???? I think not,,,,
Geez Reefy do us all a favour and mail your Resume to the Club!
2005 Here we come!!!!

Hmm. You are right it is easy.
& there is nobody here is who is a bigger fan of Raper than me.
I can show you 4000 posts if you dont believe me.
If you want to ignore problems go ahead. I'm not forcing you to read them.
the interchanges could have been handled better.
As is evidenced by the 18 point scoring spree through minuts 50-60

I dont think that 18 point scoring spree had anything to do with the interchange. You may note (from memory) that two of them were from mistackles by backs! That has nothing to do with the interchange, just sloppy defence

Here are the three tries:

49 min: TRY - Knights. --> Good kick (Nothing to do with interchange)
Quinn gets a double following a grubber down the sideline.
Wide conversion from K Gidley is successful.

52 min: TRY - Knights. --> Mist tackle by Simmons and runs away from Hilder (nothing to do with interchange)
Riley Brown scores a run away try.
Conversion attempt 12m in from touch K Gidley misses.
Sharks 30-20

58 min: TRY - Knights. --> Player doesnt lock up Kurt, he offlaods and gets Brother in (nothing to do with intercahnge)
Matthew Gidley scores and the home side is coming back with a vengeance.
Conversion K Gidley successful.
Sharks 30-26

Are we going to go around again in another debate like the one where you said Noddy will be a good kicker?

The interchange has an effect on the entire team.
When the dam bursts it finds the weakest spot to split, in this case it was Vagana.
Perhaps Stevo may have had us in better field postion, who knows.
But at the nd of the day, the Sharks were flat & lacked intencity during that period.
The most likely cause, is the interchange.

Tough call Reefy. You may be right but when we lost Dumas in the first minute I thought we were gone.
Hard to play cards with one short.

Im gona stop here, you have nothing. All those tries, as demonstrated in my previous post were as a result of backs. It had NOTHING to do with the interchange.

Even if they did go for Vagana because we was the 'weakest spot' what does this have to do with the interchange? Do you intend Raper to change Vagana #-o . Stevo would have had minimal effect on the tries, one was from an un-avoidable good grubber, the other a 110m break and the last from a lucky offload because a back didnot lock Jurt up. These have nothing to do with the interchange or if Stevens was on or off

Strange use of the subs and for those who reckon it's not worth talking about because we won, grow a brain and then maybe the forum will be more suitable for you.

Interchange mistakes or not, the Sharks have a bad habit of leaking points in a hurry, when they establish a lead. It's happened against Manly twice, Melbourne, Newcastle, Raiders.

Raper will be exploring all options to fix our apparent defensive wobblies. How good will we be when we get our defence sorted out and play for 80?

Good point Sheros. That's one of the differences between the table toppers and finals fringers in this competition.

you always talk about backing up statements. how about you back up your last one. i thought SATW's post was a good one, so where are the flaws.

"Perhaps Stevo may have had us in better field postion"

Funny reefy, Stevo was one of the tired forwards in the second half AFTER he came back on who failed to make an effort to tackle the rookie winger who scored the 100metre try after recieving the ball from Carmont on the inside......

So, Stevo was interchanged on, and was missed making that tackle.....

how did raper Err by leaving on the bench too long......was he not warmed up enough to make the tackle, is that your point ? or did Stevo get tired and fatigued sitting on the bench, is THAT what you saying ??

I don't know if the interchange was the problem for all those leaked points. I think it was our ball handling that let us down. We were failing to complete sets and the Ref was certainly having a few shockers.

Was our handling suffering because those guys were tired having not been subbed off? Possibly, but I clearly remember Nutley and McGoldrick making errors that turned the ball over and those guys never come off.

On the other hand though, when Newc scored that 90m try from the Cronulla kick Beattie was dawdling. He obviously shouldn't have been out there. You can put that down to bad coaching, Stevo should have been out there.

I don't think leaving 3 blokes on the bench until the last 6 mins is very wise but hey, we got the points, so I am still happy. Definitely room for improvement, we should have won by 20 today. Bring on the Warriors. (Another DANGER game.)

Mate, thats the point, STEVO WAS THERE. the winger went thru the 1 metre gap between beats and stevo, both were buggered, and stevo had only just come on .

I didn't see your other post there Beeker. If Stevo was there then I apologise. What were Beattie and Stevo doing on there at the same time, did Nutley go off today?

Because what he is saying that those events & the interchange are mutually exclusive & they are not.
At a timke when newcastle made changes & we didn't, they scored points & got back in the game. Whether the intercahnge had an effect directly upon the event(i.e. a try) is irrelevant. It is the entire period that has to viewed, not the plays in singularity.

By individually singling out the significant events in that period he has covered for it as a whole anyways? The pending question here is would things have been different if Raper had made the changes? In my opinion they wouldn't have as Newcastle were gearing up for a good run for the better part of the minutes leading up to the event. I see what you are saying, but I still maintain that Newcastle would've made a run regardless of who was on the field at that point in time...

Again a nice try to demonstrate your intelligence , but unfortunately, you fall way short of the required minimum to take me on & succeed without embarrassing yourself. But your used to embarrassment I guess.
Stevo should have been on at the start of the half because he had been off for 25 minutes already. (10 half time 15 before)
So what you are saying is that prop forwards should play centres? That they are capable of footing it with wingers & should be able to match them one on one?
Stevo wasn't buggered at all, he was just 40 kg too heavy & 20m too slow.
That was a poor effort by you.
Even you are capable of better than that.
But keep trying Morph.

Well lest all look on the bright side, IF there was a mistake, and we don't know what was going through Raper's mind and discussions with trainers and players.

One thing I am happy about is that Raper will go away and try to fix it, having a good look at himself and the team in the process. Unlike last years efforts of trying to blame everyone else.

S.Raper I am imrpessed with the way you handle yourself.
