G'day Raging Bulldog... welcome to LWOS.
I agree. This was a top match and even though it may have given Parra the edge over the rest of the competition, I think Canterbury gave them a real shake. They'll be back.

Morning all.I know it sounds cliched but rugby league was the winner on Friday night. It is games like that that bring new fans to the game and keep the old ones coming back for more. Teams one and two went hammer and tong and showed exactly why they are one and two. You can have a great attack but it is the defence that wins you the big ones. Both sides can take a lot out of that game and prepare for a tough finals campaign.

Did anyone see Brian Smith leave the coaches box on Friday night after the game? He gave a clencehed fist to the Parra supporters. You could tell how much this game meant to Parra and Smith. I think he truly beleives he can shake the finals hoodoo and win his first grand final.

Beware the scent of September.....
Its the month of dog :)....It is also a month for the choke...If i had to frame a market that would choke the most in the semis it would go something like this:
Roosters: 2/1
Eels: 7/2
Cronulla: 5/1
Newcastle: 13/2
Anything could happen. Im genuinely excited about this, there is no team over the line. The eels have an advantage, but are by no means over the line. They have put in a few shockers this year, it will all come down to who they play and whether the attitude is there.....

The only true "specialist choker" in semis is Jason Taylor, and I f**king know what I am talking aboutt having watched the bastard being unstoppable in the lead up matches but come semi times he shits himself.
I know Parra have a great set of forwards and some keen backs but Taylor has single handedly f**ked Norths in up to 3 semis, just beware Eels, if he starts looking jumpy someone break his jaw!

That was awhile ago now Beast.
Just because he couldn't handle thepressures of Semi Finals footballat the Bears, doesn't mean he'll be repeating it with the Eels...especially after all these years.
Different time period...different club...different buch of players = a diferent and improved Jason Taylor.
Just wait and see.

It is incorrect that Parra have no Grand Final experience.

While it isnt much, Jason Moodie played in the '97 Grand Final winning side for Newcastle, and current 1st Division player Dave "Big Poppa" Westley played in the '94 (?) GF winning side for Canberra.

Cheers,
Smylee

Parramatta- Choke?

I've outlined this before, but the only two players remaining from that infamous '98 Preliminary final loss to the Bulldogs are Nathan Cayless and Mick Vella- and they were on the reserves bench!

Cheers.

My first posting on Australian soil. Parramatta will not choke this year. Unfortunately, Hass beat me to it but the team that choked against Canterbury in 1998 has disappeared. We have new players and a new attitude. Quite simply, Parra is the best, f*** the rest.

The name "turnstiles" belongs to one Preston Campbell.
The guy only makes about 5 tackles a game and misses just as many.

Rd 23 v Warriors made 3 missed 4
Rd 22 v Knights made 4 missed 5
Rd 21 v Roosters made8 missed 4
Rd 20 v Eagles made 6 missed 4
Rd 19 v Cowboys mad 3 missed 0

They are just the last few games when he has been getting massive raps from everyone, some even comparing him to Johns and saying he must be on the Kangaroo tour.
Gimme a break, the guy is a friggin dud.

G'day Bebeto. Welcome back to the ol' country.
You may be right. This could be Parra's year. But remember... it's not over til it's over...

Yes I remember that too DolphinMatt, and I also remember the little bastard handing Newcastle a semi final by setting up both of their tries under the goal posts, not to mention semis against Parra and Saints etc.
Anyhow I choose not to go over those unpleaesant memories again, Taylor has been around for long time and I suppose I cannot begrudge him a shot at a title.
But just keep an eye on him, again you have been warned!

Norths almost got there in 94' and were knocked off by the eventual premiers, my beloved Raiders.

Taylor cost me pick the margins a couple of years back when he missed five goals againt the doggies. I took the dogs 1-12 and because he missed five goals the margin was 13+. I picked every other margin. What a bastard!!!!!!!
