A Sifa Talakai point of difference

I was originally of the view our best 17 has Sifa in the centres and Iro out of the team - I now believe the 17 we went with this week is almost our top 17. With just 1 the place up for grabs between Hunt, Dale and OK if all are fit.
It would be miracle if they were all good to go at the one time. The team on Sunday would be close to our best. There could be another Stonestreet out there?

As much as I see sense in this post it raises a bugbear with me.

Forwards develop WAY slower than backs. Backs can come in, stand out wide, run fast, step and be spectacular with highlight moments galore. That often happens around a million little and sometimes big errors which are forgiven because of the flash in the pan stuff. Backs get cult status far too easily. Not many forwards do. Not many at all. So do the odd forwards i.e. Tommy. He had it after one run.

Forwards have a different set of challenges to meet and it's hard. Real hard. They have less highlights and can be tradesmanlike for years before they start to show the necessary endurance, strength, skills, concentration etc etc to be even considered "good". Jesse was NMU for this year. That's pretty much a fact. He's only 22. He has 2 years to run. He's years away from being a starter, barring injury (to him and or others) but he's at that next step of development.

This baby, Colqhuoun, will not be thrown out with the bathwater.

The Sharks have some very good problems coming their way at the selection table. In a good place but have to try and keep every one of the building blocks that have been getting developed for the last 2 and a bit years.

We need all of them to get through the season ,let alone the post season.

Completely agree with this - unless they’re physical freaks (like Haas), forwards are generally not going to be good, consistent first graders until mid-20’s usually. The question will be though, does JC have the same patience as someone like Iro - how long is he prepared to toil away in NSW Cup and be a bit part first grader? Or will he have his head turned by a basket case club (and potentially his agent) offering him likely more money and a starting spot.

Always a danger Chimp. The Sharks record on that has become very robust though. Guys are staying because they want to be at Cronulla. I'm optimistic that is unlikely with JC. I don't think we keep the Bradbury's, Berrells, Fearnleys (if he's actually ours), and even Atkinsons. Berrell is the only outside chance of the also rans who might get a run through injury to Tinkerbell.

We shall see and learn in good time.

Was going to say similar, as well if anything our pack is a little older both CM and DF off contract end of 2025 so is RH, he will get plenty of opportunity I can see JC and Tooks being guns in 2026, and they will get there chances before as well as we seen this year how many injuries

I can see Dale’s experience coming into play later in the season but right now I don’t think he’s needed. Every middle is currently going great guns and don’t see the need to remove any of them for someone who isn’t as reliable as he once was. Interesting times ahead.

During post game interview some reporter asked about Hunt being back but not DF.
It would come with no shock if either out of blue he retires or we here he moves to another club

When it comes to player moves the quieter it is more likely it will happen
Straight up I was just guessing this had no info, if what the press conference is about at noon, was not trying to be a smartie, it was just the press conference after cowboys game how Fitz answered a question
