I've been told by a source - who at times has been way off but at times dead on - that a person is booked in for surgury "very very very soon"
Apparently this surgury is "preventative" and invovles making a socket deeper and placing some kind of metal plate/hook????? on/near/ontop of some bone??? (not sure of the exact details).
The patient is reported as being very scared as its the biggest job ever done on this person's body
Recovery time is expected to be 5-6 months

could be wrong

If it was so serious, it should have been done months ago, instead of rushing him back only to miss the eight anyway.

I am quite amused that this is being made out to be some big secret when it's pretty obvious which player in the side needs some preventative work done on a dodgy joint.

Benji's doctor is getting more of his pay than Benji is.

I wonder if he can play in the second row....

And so the never ending circle continues...

In a a brace for 2 months, no contact for 4 months.

Comes into the season well underdone and lacking confidence.

Probably Shines rushed him back to try and save his sorry ass because of the lack of ability in John Morris

So that's next year f**ked as well
Someone is going to have to make a very tough call
It is a no win situation ... if he stays knowing our cursed luck he'll be injured and forced to retire and if we let him go he'll have 8 injury free years and be the game's No 1 player.

I would keep him. At the top of his game (like in 05) he is a once in a generation type of player. He is class and is still so so young. He is marketable and even if he plays 50% of games I dare say he pays for himself in merchandise sales etc and when on song he lifts the team like nothing else

I say, leave him out for all next season.

get those shoulders at 200%, Get royce away from Benji and get someone to show him how to tackle properly.

Get some muscle around the torso, neck and shoulders. That way come 09 he'll be fit and firing and less likely to suffer from recurring injuries which are more than likely going to continue throughout most of his career, meaning we'll be pissy like this season until we get rid of him in 12 years time.

Whats one year without benji compared to 12 years of mediocrity and benji's shoulders popping in and out more frequently than a strippers tits

If this was so serious, why was he rushed back this season? He could have had this op. at the end of April, FFS.

He was no doubt rushed back in an attempt to save Shines' and Royce's seasons. It failed so. But then so has a lot during their tenure ...

Just remember that the last injury the shoulder did not pop out it was a broken bone and the surgeon was very happy as to how his shoulder was held together. I'd take this RUMOUR with a grain of salt.

as am I

the way it was explained to me, it sounds like its extra surgury that is designed to sit the bone deeper inside the socket (reducing the risk of it popping out) and also to make the shoulder more flexible (we've heard the rumour that he can't move his arm around too much).

Yet at the same time, it sounds very VERY intrusive and risky

will wait and hear what news comes out from the club...

MARSHALL RECOVERING WELL FROM SURGERY

Wests Tigers half-back Benji Marshall is recovering well from planned end of season surgery held on Tuesday.

The operation, performed by Dr Des Bokor, was to further stabilise Marshall’s right shoulder. The operation was planned for the end of the season after Marshall injured his right shoulder in the round eight game over the Melbourne Storm on Saturday, May 5, at Bluetongue Stadium.

Wests Tigers Club Doctor, Donald Kuah, said the operation was a success.

“Benji will wear a sling for five weeks,’’ Dr Kuah said.

“He will return to pre-season training with the team on November 5 but won’t be doing any contact work until December.’’

It's groundhog day. No contact til December. Underprepared come march. Lacking confidence. Rushed back into the side to bail out the ineptitude of spastics like Morris. It's like deja vu all over again to quote Rex (i think)

Benji's shoulder recovery is coming along extremely well which is fantastic news. Quote "it's all good, the sling is just for show"
