We have the following

2008 Signings: Linton Price, Benson Tupou, Noah Fotu (Leeton); Todd Bridge (Taree); Joe Latham (Wingham); Soueli Makaui, Lio Viaga (Keebra Park HS)

does anyone know anything about these guys?

What the hell are we doing recruiting country players? The comps in the bush at the moment, from my knowledge and what I read, aren't very strong at the moment, particularly in the areas of exceptionally skilled players capable of becoming NRL regulars.

It also states
Losses: Ben Jeffery (Titans); Paul Whatuira (Huddersfield); Ben Galea, Daniel Fitzhenry (Hull KR); Jai Ayoub (Roosters); Jason Moodie (Retired)

Surely with the value of players coming and going we've got a few bob left in the coffers. Here are a list of players who have been released so far and are looking for a team

Todd Byrne (Warriors)
Adam Perry, Trent Cutler, Aaron Wheatley, Jon Green (Bulldogs)
Chris Beattie, Charlie Tonga, Adam Schubert (Roosters)
Cameron Ciraldo, Anthony Watts (Sharks)
Sam Isemonger (Dragons)
Steve Irwin (Raiders)
Daniel Abraham, George Carmont, Paul Franze, David Seage (Knights)
Brett Firman (Panthers)

now there's always going to be more than this, but as it stands, this is the quickest and easily found list i could compile of all players released by their clubs and have yet to be signed by anyone.

Seeing as how only Watts and Firman are the only halves in that mob, would it be worthwhile throwing a few bob at watts?

We are at the cap - don't you remember?
and we will continue to be at the cap even if every player in the top 25 suddenly retire

There's information about those players here:

http://www.weststigers.com.au/NewsArticle.aspx?NewsId=935

As for the strength of the country competition, a few of those players signed have only played in the country for one year after being scouted in New Zealand and placed in country teams for a year with Wests Tigers scout Jody Rudd.

And I think at least one of the players listed above are from Keebra Park.

Thats my point exactly ink. I mean we've offloaded Whatuira, Fitzhenry and Galea, and in all seriousness one of those guys would've been earning similar to all the new signings listed there put together almost.

we should have retained all our roster and still have enough money left for at least one top line player or two up and coming youngsters who have already established themselves in first grade.

I could understand purchases like those made, if we were undefeated all season and strong in all areas across the park, and had managed to retain all the players for the ensuing season.

But thats nowhere near the case.

I would've thought we'd have been in the market as big players for any quality halves that were available.

As it stands there's only Watts from Cronulla available at present who is young and almost decent.

There really aren't any players worth throwing cash at in the current NRL situation.........the only one out of that MIGHT be Firman, MIGHT being a huge MIGHT because he's a halfback and that's what we don't have.......for the time being, it's probably better sticking with our own crop, depleted or not to see what's worth keeping without carrying extra dead wood in the form of cast offs from other clubs.

Maybe they're waiting for someone to come on the scene and are going to throw some money at them or are waiting for high profile players who need a change of scene, e.g. Sherwin, etc, whether you think that's good for our club is your opinion but that's what I think they're doing.

Daniel Abraham has retired to focus on his business as far as I know. It's a bit of a shame, he could play when he wasn't injured.

I didn’t mind the look of Watts. He made a lot of mistakes but at least he was trying things. Set up a good try against the Dogs with a cut out pass. Tried a few chip and chases aswell

What game was it that he could play?

Tennis? Golf? Darts? It certainly wasn't any form of contact sport.

And Mulvi, I do believe Galuvao was signed by Parra.

In 2005 we were under the cap by approx. $600,000. The current team doesnt seem anywhere near as strong and there is a struggle to fit everyone in ?!? I think maybe the pokie tax is causing the club to use the salary cap as a smokescreen.

I think they should throw $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ at Andrew Johns to take up an exclusive consultancy role similar to what Matty Johns does with the Storm. He can help develop John 'Joey' Morris and Benji 'Joey' Marshall. Joey is moving to Sydney so it is a good fit.

Don't worry about signing players, have a great support staff and turn nobodies into superstars like the Storm do.
