Won't matter if a bid like Easts tigers or Norths Bears offer to host all their home matches there... it will take time to produce juniors there, but since Melbourne storm aint doing much more, whats the difference i suppose
you're saying the game shouldn't care about increasing participation? strange.

Not saying that at all, saying theyve done fk all in Melbourne, the barr is set low for del & perf
Again is it the NRL clubs job to increase participation or the ARLC's? Only one of them has it in their constitution, and it isn't the NRL clubs!
If you're disappointed in the number of kids playing Rl in Victoria maybe you should ask pistol pete why NRLVIC gets an absolute pittance in funding and has hardly any DO's? In Perth we have two NRL funded DO's for the whole state, its farcical.
Storm have one of the best track records of debuting NRL players and having them become long term first graders, with many of them playing rep football. That is their job and they are doing it far far better than nearly every club in the comp.

If the ARLC did their job and got 10k registered players in Vic instead of 3k then Im sure the Storm would be turning more of them into first graders!

There you go. Thanks for the report

That’s more positive than what I had imagined. If the Perth idea gets up and it is a real boon for their state economy that could give a real kick to the idea of Adelaide
Perth will no doubt get a team in the NRL as they have thousands of registered players and their junior leagues are far more developed than SA.

If we get NSW cup entry by 2030 after being in the junior leagues, we can have an Adelaide franchise in the NRL by 2040 hopefully.

Shouldn't participation increase be #1 priority? It will be very hard to run an SG ball side with the number of SA jnrs at the moment.
Ensuring that all NRL SA clubs have players in all levels of the game is one of our top priorities, but that's mainly handled by the clubs themselves. Our goal is atm is to form a club that will field a team in the SG ball cup.

One of the bigger issues is retention, as players who go to higher levels in SA eventually just go to other states as their opportunities in SA become limited. Our intention is that with an Adelaide franchise in the SG ball club and then NSW cup players will be retained here and grow through that pathway.

I asked NS Bears last month and I got the impression that "Adelaide is still on the table but Perth is what we're looking at".

We emailed an Adelaide relocation proposal to Easts Tigers and they've so far stated that senior management is now discussing the matter.

If a club confirms relocation to Adelaide permanently is on the table then we won't go through with forming a club for the SG Ball Club.

Good luck with it, would be a great step forward for SA to finally get some development happening.

Good luck with everything. I have heard about some recent struggles down in Adelaide but with good, committed people like yourself behind the wheel the game down there is on the improve.

Panthers, Sharks, Tigers, Broncos...
Seriously yes storm are good at turning those kids into elite 1st graders, but dont say they are debuting better than those clubs, id say they are in the top 8 clubs, probably higher for the actual quality of them

You should be doing both regardless, but its a great idea.. to have an SG ball side all the way thru to a nsw cup... not only can you have local players from the whole state to draw from, but can have players from Vic, WA and country NSW as SA even though is a large state, its right between all areas that could be handy as distance isnt as far to those areas or even from sydney where most matches would be played for the lower grades

Agreed - one of the steps we want is to get at least a couple thousand registered players, and to have all NRL SA clubs capable of fielding a team in all tiers of the comp within SA, from juniors to seniors.

Thank you, it's a group effort at the end of the day. We're working with politicians in SA, club managers, and 200 supporters atm. We want to get to 5000 supporters before we make our petition for sponsoring this initative in parliament.

We recognised that starting from the junior level is the most realistic approach. Despite starting small, our attitude and mindset will be big. We will act like we're an NRL club and create one of the most recognisable sporting brands.
