Personally I love it here. I live north of the city up near the hills and vineyards..

As a city, it’s small but plenty to do. Think something akin to Newcastle as somewhat of a comparison. And if you go out on the town, the bouncers welcome you in, not treat you like your a criminal for wanting to enter. They treat you like adults, not criminals. Lock out laws?? Pfft..

Within half an hour drive of the city you are in the Adelaide hills, and vineyards. And it reminds me of where and when I grew up in the 70/80’s of the Sutherland shire. Shops shut at 5pm on weekends too.

To quote another of my favourite films.. Pulp Fiction.. like Vincent Vega describing his trip to Amsterdam..

“it’s the little differences”..

IGA isnt IGA, it’s “Foodland”
Dance isn’t Dance, it’s “Dar-nce”
Football isn’t football, it’s “Aussie Rules”
And if you want petrol, you don’t go to a 7/11, speedway, or the like.. you go to “Mogas”..

But sadly, no Rams..

And the Adelaide Oval is my favourite sporting venue in the country. Anyone who is considering coming over for origin, you’ll have brilliant days in the vineyards, brilliant nights in the city, and an awesome venue for the best sporting event on the calendar year..

Visited Adelaide back in 1999 when to visit a good mate who was the vice chancellor of Adelaide Uni at the time, when he picked us up at the airport he took us straight up to McLaren Vale where he had wine to pick up, it was a nice way to get a feel of out of town straight away, have to admit back then though the CBD was an absolute hole and thought there probably wouldn't be reason to go back [apart from the wineries].
Fast track 2017 when the Roosters were playing at Adelaide Oval thought this would be a good reason for another visit, wineries were as good as i remember, went to the Barossa and Adelaide Hills too but what really impressed me was the city, some very funky little pubs and wine bars and staff very welcoming, loved how some had their wine lists written up on mirrors above the bar, some really good varietals available by the glass too. Also Adelaide markets, did like it back in 1999 but this time it seemed bigger, absolute brilliant food, you could fill yourself up on samples walking around and just the whole presentation from the stalls was just like being in a food porn movie. Then there is the jewel in the crown, Adelaide Oval, even though it isn't great to watch league the whole experience was great, would imagine the atmosphere would be amazing when the Adelaide Crows were playing to a full house there.

Forgot to mention another reason for a trip to Adelaide was to see the pandas at the zoo and they didn't disappoint, the male one was active moving around its enclosure while the female slept but did the most amazing yawn and stretch, the last remaining flamingo in Australia was also at the zoo but didn't come out of its enclosure the day we were there, sadly Chile the Flamingo passed away last year and now due to quarantine laws there are no more in Australia, quite sad really because they are beautiful birds.

same here, visited in 99 coz my sister moved here and didn’t think much of the city really.
Fast forward and I’ve been here for the last two ashes tests in Adelaide, and since moved over, the place is almost a different city. Just at the moment it’s the hottest city on the f@@king planet!

Just needs the Rams back and it’ll be complete!

Adelaide needs a strong team to be relocated without juniors

Roosters fit this bill and are already are pulling 20k crowds when they play in Adelaide, and have readily identifiable state colours

The Bears would be the ideal current available relocation imo. Colours are neutral to both AFL clubs while still representing the state and the mascot is unique to any other sporting team of importance in the city.

I wouldn’t mind a team down there called the Hindmarsh Cracks.

Hindy can be #1 ticket holder.

The Macca Moonman as logo and mascot.

Play in the same colours as Power. ..black white teal and silver.

The fans can shout "go on...have a crack!!!"

If Super League didn’t f**k the game in the arse we probably would still have Perth and Brisbane 2
Serious question here but can you explain why Perth, Adelaide and the crushers were dropped??

Did the people that finally wrestled control of the game in Australia not want to prop these clubs up or did they want to cut the number of teams so the remaining clubs got a bigger piece of the tv money pie??

Perth were cut because they had massive debts. They had to pay for clubs flying across the continent and had to pay for their own travels etc. They lost almost all public support and the grassroots league died pretty rapidly in the space of a couple of years. They were costing news millions to keep afloat and were dropped basically on the spot.

Crushers because the Broncos wanted Brisbane to themselves and pressured the newly formed NRL to make them do this. Adelaide because of reduction of teams in the deal.
