I think AEW would be better off if it lent more in a sports based presentation, but it's a really goofy product not at all dissimilar to the WWE.

The major difference between the two is that the talent in AEW has more freedom. While that's great on paper, that means they ought to be even more receptive to the audience to see what works and what doesn't.

Too often the talent is too picky about who they work with and what they achieve in the company. It may satisfy themselves but I don't think it satisfies their audience.

Less than a thousand tickets left with capacity of 13,500 for Brisbane Grand Slam event. Most likely biggest non WWE wrestling attendance in this country.

I don’t wanna pile on but considering it was originally booked in as a stadium show for 50-60K at Suncorp and had to be downgraded to 13-14K at the event centre it’s hilarious to see people throw this as some kind of historic moment… lol

Reminds me of Wrestlemania 7 moved indoors for “bomb threats” the only bombing there was the event itself.

I was excited for AEW when it started but Tony seems hellbent on proving he has no clue what he’s doing and can’t or won’t hire people who can actually help his business.

Something about aew which makes it live in the head of WWE fans. They follow the aew ratings and business closer than aew fans. Will be the biggest wrestling event in history of Queensland. Surpasses any number achieved in Australia by either WCW Turner or Barnett.

Since the beginning.

What were your impressions on the show, mate? Did you have any favourite wrestlers?

In a way, I'm a bit like Vince in that my favorites tend to be bigger or more imposing guys. Luchasaurus, Lance Archer, Big Bill, Wardlow are among my favourites.

I also like seeing 2nd generation stars like the Gunn Club, Anderson, Pillman Jr ( I know the latter 2 aren't with AEW anymore). MJF is gold. FTR is a great old school tag team, that I could watch any day of the week. Seeing Dustin Rhodes in what will inevitably be his final run and he looks to be enjoying it is good, same with Billy Gunn Christians still got it. As polarizing as he is - I'm a fan of Jarrett.

A random note, I like the veteran appearances we see. Glacier coming out in that Casino Battle Royale had me on the edge of my seat. I was low key hoping his cameo would be more than a once off, or a potential inclusion in the AEW game. DDPs sting, Juventuds facing Jericho. Seeing Malenko when Khan was paying tribute to him. As you can tell, I was a wCw fan boy.

I'm not a fan of the flippy flippys. It takes me out the immersion. I've never warmed to the Bucks. I appreciate that athletically it's incredibly impressive, and the risks they take but it's just not my cup of tea - I've changed a bit, because I used to love watching Mysterio Jr, Juvi, Psicosis, Kidman and the luchadores in the Cruiserweight division in wCw. Certain ones I really didn't like. Orange Cassidy is one, Sonny Kiss, Marko Stunt - the latter 2 aren't with AEW nowadays.

I don't like watching Jericho anymore, as much as he's given to the business and his ability to re-invent the wheel and keep himself relevant - he doesn't need to be holding the ROH title. He's lost too many steps, and doesn't move the way he used to. I'd like to see him more in a Sting type of role from here on it - as a big attraction when he wrestles, or perhaps the Flair to the Evolution. You have the pieces already in place with the Learning Tree. Bring in MJF when he returns as a Triple H/main event kinda guy, Big Bill would fit your Batista/enforcer type of role. Maybe swap out Keith for somone a tad younger or alternatively team him up with someone.
