Port don't know how to win finals. they had everything in their favour against the saints, home ground, sell out, full list available, perfect conditions, and they still only won on the back of one old fart pulling out a lucky Kick over his shoulder that floats through.

Lions will paste them!

Port Adelaides time has come. If they don't win it this year they won't for years because there are two exceptionally good Victorian teams who are going to explode next year.

So I am backing them to bring the juggernaut to it's knees.

You have demonstrated your lack of knowledge again. Port were missing Matthew Primus. Their captain and their best player.

I think Brisbane will win, but I have no doubt that Port wont make it an easy victory for the Lions. Port have been pretty impressive this season, imo. I preict it will be a close game with some great match-ups on the field.

GF experience will get Brisbane home. Both very similar sides in playing tactics and the midfield battle should be a corcker.Bradshaw to kick 6,Black to top the count in possesions the scott boys to intimidate with their usual angry ant tactics.

I just do not know. One day Port, the next day Brisbane.

I'll probably go with the Lions, but only because they have GF experiance.

I reckon Port will be the toughest grand final opponent the Lions have faced yet. I'm still going for a Brisbane win though.

I think Essendon 2001 was a better side than this Port outfit, although things may be mediated somewhat by the fitness clouds hanging over some Lion players and the reduced hunger of the side over the years since then.

Bloody essedon were a bunch of sooks, walking off to the sheds early as vossy was speaking........Poor spotsmanship personified.
I thought Collingwood 2002 were a better side than the sooks in 01.

Well, I'm not denying their sookiness, but they had a lot more ability than Collingwood of 2002 had. Collingwood performed statistically better in that GF, but had the advantage of conditions suting them and Brisbane playing underdone players.

And he we go again, for one last time in 2004...

Port Adelaide vs Brisbane (27) - MCG

Port fancy their chances here, and while I wouldn't begrudge them the win (given the strong 3 years they've put in getting to the big dance), its hard to tip against the champions. Brisbane are fading, there is no doubt about that, but I think they have the strength, skill and experience to eke out one last big win. Port haven't overly impressed this finals series, and have an awful tendency for playing flat finals football during the first and third quarters of matches. They'll probably be able to get away with it during the first term of a GF, given that most sides generally struggle to assert themeselves early, but a flat third term against the Lions will all but guarantee defeat here. I also think that if they attempt to play pinpoint possession football against this team, then Brisbane will be more than adept enough to squeeze and spoil. This will lead to inordinate turnover and no shortage of contested ball, which will be an area where Brisbane will be in its element.

Expect four in a row and, if you're into the odd flutter, get your money on Luke Power for the Norm Smith medal.

Brisbane are fading, there is no doubt about that,

Is that your opinion Cyberkev?I may be bias but there is no team in the AFL that matches Brisbane for strength in every position.Stranger things have happened and in a 2 horse race favourites do get beaten but on paper(how many times has that prooved wrong)I can't see anything but a Lions victory.

I also can't argue with weather playing a big part in getting Collingwood so close.

Brisbane will win this one, but they won't next year. I would tip the Saits, Power, Geelong, or the Swans as nexy year's premiers!

Yessum...

They'll enter 2005 as by far the oldest side in the comp, minus the AFL-endorsed "two champion legup", and wearied from the immense physical and mental stress required to chase down history like they have. They've still got enough in the tank to be able to defy Port (and the 'turn-of-the -century curse'), but I certainly don't concur with some views that have the club dominating football for years to come...

I to think this will be their last in succesion but history will tell you that the Lions recruiting is second to none. The leg up thou as you put it is compariable to what the melbourne teams get in media and outside indorsements.
