Lock of the round is pretty brazen for a Richmond hater :)

Hate is beneath me...

Well, maybe I can always spare a little for Essendon...

At any rate, I've nver been one to let my biases get in the way of my tipping.

Looking at the sides, I'm now only sorry that I didn't run with Freo as my lock of the round, they'll do it comfortably.

Has anything really changed with the Eagles?

Last September they blew a gilt-edged opportunity for a flag by losing (albeit gallantly) to a strong (but hardly awe-inspiring) Sydney outfit and if last night was anything to go by, they're going to need a Swanesque run of good fortune later this season to get anywhere near the title.

I well recall John Worsfold's post GF pearler (a classic last ditch bid for tool statement of the year, if ever there was one) about how delighted he'd be if he had to come back to another GF toting the same ragtag bunch of forward wannabes?! :?

Last night the Eagles were fully esconced in the comfort zone that is Subi, yet there key forward pairing could only share a solitary goal between them!

Its bloody hard to see them getting over strong opposition outside of Perth and almost impossible to see them besting sides like St Kilda, Geelong or Adelaide on the MCG in September.

Hansen has promise and young McKinley may come on for them, but their forward structure still looks as impotent as ever.

Most likely they'll ride their massive homeground advantage into September only to get found out again.

Watched the 1st half last night, fortunately picked WC in my Oztips but as CyberK said, they hardly looked like a team that can win it this season!

Maybe they should sign Pavlich :)

Now, now, Craig...

I'm not saying I'm not happy for West Coast to go on flaunting their imperfections...

Sign the Lova Boy and they'd be flag certainties...

Well, it does not get any more embarrassing than this!

The humiliation, the f%#@^*&$ humiliation!!!

Having talked (browbeated?) some of my colleagues into running with the Tigers, I'm certainly not looking forward to Monday morning (even less than is the norm), I can tell you!

The old Cyber's goin down... to Chinatown! #-o

At least you didn't have to sit at Telstra Dome and witness that 2nd half 'performance' first hand.

Try being a Richmond supporter :(

Hmm not the best couple of matches for Richmond, but at least if they look like they are trying it will be a improvement on the second half vs WB.

I thought that's what they had been doing for the past quarter of a century?

That was exactly what I thought!

Geelong have played in what 2 Grand Finals and countless Finals Series since our last premiership!

4 Grand Finals actually, even if they do try their hardest to pretend that the 1994 & 1995 debacles never happened.

Nice win to the Cats today, with their midfield running riot over a Brisbane side, which appears to be but a shadow of the side that dominated the competition a few short years ago.

Tough day for Brisbane, with Sherman, Power & Voss going okay, but not a lot of positives to take from the game.

Quiet day for Jonathan Brown who (unlike Pavlich last season) failed to dig deep and find the grunt required to lift his team in the unhospitable surrounds of Shell Stadium.

Yes Pavlich would have changed that result.

You made a fool of yourself with the claim Pavlich is younger than Brown, why don't you just give it up Kev...

But your entire flimsy argument has been built on the premise that Brown is implicitly superior to Pavlich because he alone lifts the side when it is struggling. He failed to provide any manner of lift today.

The reality is that Brown (whilst good when at his best) has as many - if not more - flat games as Pavlich, its just that Brisbane has been anything but a one man band in previous years, and has been more adept at compensating for his off days.

The view that Pavlich only plays well when Freo is playing well is, as a consequence, a circular argument. 95% of the time, Freo is only doing well because Pavlich is playing well. The side has a lot of limitations.

Freo's record in Melbourne over recent years is dubious and you've been on hand to see a couple of Pavlich's off days when the team has struggled as a result. Had you been at Geelong today you could just as easily have cast similar aspersions on Brown, who was thoroughly embarrassed by a battler largely unheard of outside of Corio.

Pavlich is a champion who will only get better from here. Were he a part of the Brisbane side and brown a part of the Freo side, I can guarantee you that Pavlich wouldn't be copping the ignorant asides he cops in a few small areas today.
