Poor Kev...

Sydney are sh*t.

The humiliation, the f#@%$&*g humiliation!

Its a pity my keyboard can't take out a restraining order against me!

In my own defence, I was working from ten years worth of data in making that assertion.

I'm not sure if Sydney are sh*te, but they do have some concerns. They badly miss Ball, given that Jolly is no better than average in the ruck and Chambers is dismal. On top of this, they need Williams, but he is clearly injury-hit and way on the wrong side of thirty. Tellingly today, when the umpires cracked down on their defenders, a wave of free kicks went Port's way, and even when that didn't happen, they got tore up by the cleverness and marking potency of the Power forwards. I thought Freo were flattered by last weekend's result, but that had nothing on today. The Swans players are very, very comfortable with themselves, but even strong premiers can't rest on their laurels, and the Swans aren't a strong premier by any means.

It'd be hypocritical of me to bag out another side, and not spare some vitriol for my own team.

Very poor showing today. We have a huge problem brewing when we face any side with a tall strong forward, which may necessitate a more prolonged move of Roughead back into defence. Dawson tries hard and has good skills and height, but he is sadly underweight and looks like a dorky 15 year old. It was poor coaching today to leave him on Rocca so long. You can count the number of good games Rocca plays a year on a clumsy butcher's hand, but today he was gifted one of them. As he averages 2 goals a game and he kicked 8 toady in a 6 goal win, elementary maths will be enough to deduce that this mismatch decided the contest.

Ironically, even if Hay was still with us, he wouldn't have helped given that he pulled out of yet another game with a headache. Given his sterling performance of 6 possessions (3 of them clangers) and 2 frees against last week, I'd feel sorry for the Kangaroos, but I don't have any pity to spare. I'm using it all up closer to home!

I honestly don't know why they don't do this.

Disregarding Hawthorn's issues with the spine ... What better way for him to learn how to play as a key forward at the top level than to play on them week in week out?

Got to say what a game between crows and the eagles. I'm almost tempted to say this, "grand final preview"! If you can beat adelaide in adelaide you are doing very well! Jeez richmond are screwed next week playing the eagles!

So long as we get our match ups right we're a chance.

I said we'd beat St Kilda and until Thursfield went down we would have.

Go Tigers :)

No chance. Eagles by 50+. You are even more screwed with Thursfield gone and the Eagles are almost in red hot form. You guys improved last week but the eagles smashes the saints in round 1!

Excellent work, Locky.

Way to run interference for me with a bit of diversionary controversy, while I slink off into the background to tend to my badly bruised ego.

We'll win ....

Thursfield is not an issue due to the fact they have no key forwards, we get the midfield matchups right and we'll win.

I guess they do need a small forward and not so much a tough midfielder... but even so..
Milne or Guerra, who would you rather at Hawthorn Kev?

This is not an easy question to answer.

I think Guerra is the better footballer overall and has greater depth and diversity to his game, BUT...

Hawthorn desperately needs a good crumbing option (well, a good one would be a bonus, right now we just need a crumbing option fullstop), as we're limiting options badly by just running with marking forwards.

Milne is as good a small crumbing forward as there is going around.

For where they are at, St Kilda made the right choice, which doesn't mean that the downside of the choice won't hurt them.

I suspect you'll find them doing it this weekend.

Show similar disrespect as today to the cupless Cats in Corio and we'll be risking the biggest massacre since Little Bighorn.

It'll be Franklin & Boyle in across half-forward, with Croad & Roughead down back for mine.

Losing to Collingwood ... tsk tsk

Its character building...

Much like doing time for Patsy Cline, I suspect.

It'll only be all the more sweeter when inevitably the time comes to extract revenge.

Shocking loss, but the ramifications of defeat would have been worse for Collingwood.

No surprises that their best players: Rocca, Buckly, Caracella and co were their veterans, while our better performers (such as there were any) were the younger players: Hodge, Young & Lewis (with Mitchell & Bateman not youngsters, but hardly old at 24 & 23 respectively).

Clement's about to hit 30, and several of their old hands will be retiring over the next two years, despite still being among their key players.

Thomas is progressing well, but he is an exception to the rule, so I still expect some tough times for the Pies over the next few years.

Fortunately, we've come through the worst of that, not that it brings a lot of comfort on days like today.

Just can't see it mate. Thursfield is a massive loss. Plus then you have to match up on Judd, Kerr, Cuz, etc. It is very difficult. It could be even harder if they play Hunter at CHF.

They beat us by two points last year thanks solely to attrocious umpiring in the 2nd quarter that cost Richmond at minimum 2 goals (1 that had already sailed through the sticks when the WA dog officiating at our end called it back) ...

Oh and last nights game showed how average St Kilda really is.

Your right meltiger, Thirstfield was killing Riewoldt before he did his knee.

Mel you might know, whats the go with Knobel and Hall??

Cam reading the paper this morning, Ray Hall, Cleve Hughes & Jeremy Humm were all named in the bests for Coburg.

Will be interesting to see what happens now. I would honestly be shocked if Thursfield isn't on the long term injured list and Humm promoted within 2 weeks, but for mine I would certainly select Razor this week, and why not give Cleve a chance in the 1's when no one in the football world expects us to get within 10 goals of the Eagles?

With Humm, personally I don't know if we have any need for yet another flanker scared of a hard ball, but happy to be proven wrong on him given we picked him up as a rookie :)

There's just two little flaws in your logic here...

1) West Coast are always vulnerable away from home.

2) West Coast are playing at home, where Richmond has only won once in its last 10 starts since 1993, and that win came in 2001 when Richmond was enroute to a preliminary final and the Eagles were struggling to avoid tyhe spoon.

:)

Football following is 99% passion and 1% logic, so I'm not even considering a serious attempt at swayage.

In a third blow to your line of argumentation, however, I can report that West Coast will NOT be my lock of the round this weekend.

Yep saw that in the paper aswell, Hughes kicked 4 goals didn't he?

I would put razor and hughes in next week no doubt about it. And i dont know what Chaffey is doing but we need a tagger this week..

Yeh, as much as i hate him he is a great small crumbling forward.. which is why i couldn't understand why he was in the middle most of the game last week against us. If thats what they wanted.. then they should have kept Guerra.

If i was a hawks fan i would be very happy about picking Guerra up, although i wouldn't be happy about giving Hay away.. you missed him against the Pies.

Richmond are a chance against the Eagles.... i wouldn't write them off thats for sure. i think the WACA like the MCG suits us.
