=====================================================

The only concerns here are the Hounds, Sydney & the Roos.

I've had a bad start to 2006 with my lock tips, but I can well rely on my own side to break the sequence.

Geelong is clearly the best tip on offer this week.

Agree with you here, these were the three games I hovered over as well.

In the end most tipsters have run with similar tips this week, but these games could go either way.

I so wanted to run with Carlton, but in the end I just lacked the courage.

Surely a reigning premier won't lose 3 straight games to start the season?

I initially had Carlton, form would say Carlton, as they were actually impressive even if losing over in WA. Sydney have been pitiful, at best.

But yeah, I really ran with a similar sort of argument, Carlton ARE poor, Sydney are supposedly a GF quality team?

Whats the go with Mark Williams btw?! :x He was my highest scorer in my Dream Team for R1 but scored a pathetic total of 36 odd last week!

Better pick up the slack this week

Brad Johnson has been a sensational buy though, 600 points as captain of my team so far :D

Tell me about it!

Poor old Willow was triple-teamed down back and as Rocca got on top of Dawson in a big way and Tarrant started to grow in confidence, we failed to force Collingwood into releasing players forward.

Fine player is Johnson.

He is one of several gun veterans in the Bulldog side that get constantly overlooked in discussions of the Hounds as people focus overtly on the younger players.

Speaking of Dawson,

What's your take on all this sla.gging Clarkson has been fielding over leaving him on Rocca all last week?

I would have thought if he plans on being a KPP down back, getting trounced early in his career would be a building exercise and show him what still needs to be done to make it?

But geez, the coach has been taking a right royal flogging this week.

I wouldn't have put him on Rocca to begin with, but I certainly would have moved him after he kicked the 4th.

Its fair for Clarkson to talk of limited forward options (with Franklin, Barker & Boyle all missing) , but the reality was that both Croad & Roughead were far better match-ups for Rocca. Roughead was wasting away in a pocket, and would have been of far greater use on Rocca, particularly as he can create damage by running off a bigger player, given his excellent disposal skills. By removing another player or two from the forward line, it could also have freed up extra space for Williams and Dixon to lead to.

I'm not worried about the confidence angle. I'm sure he's had bad days in football at junior level, and everyone has bad ones at some point, regardless of experience. I'd also expect that the coaching panel is strongly attuned to his psychological capacity to know whether he could deal with an adverse outcome or not.

What I'm not happy with is the fact that this was a very winnable game. If you want to educate a player in this way, you do it against a strong opponent (where a win was always unlikely) and at a time of the game where its becoming clear that the overall cause is lost.

Inexperience isn't really the main issue here, its the 18kg weight disparity that's the killer and, most likely, always will be in similar scenarios.

I have no problems with that.

He made a decision that, regardless of motive, cost the side a very winnable game.

Some have been talking about sacking him though!

That is Richmondesque behaviour lol :(
