I thought the Australia vs Ireland matches got permanently called off, due to disagreements and unsportsman like behaviour, and now all of a sudden, they've coincidentially decided to resurrect it in our centenary year, and more importantly, our World Cup.

how soft must those irish be to consider the AFL players rough and tough?!

seriously what a bunch of farkin pansies.

What else would expect from the AFL, and the Irish boys would be more worried about being tackled in the dressing sheds than they would on the field.

I have always loved this hybrid international game for the fact that it shows just how desperate VFL is to have something other than their repetitive season. It is a stark admission that VFL is going nowhere.

Demetriou is obsessed with Rugby League at the moment because all they have is Australia and they have really expanded as much as they are able to. They want to manufacture a war. And the fact that they make such a big deal out of their pre season competition and their awards night is for the same reason. All they have is round after round year after year. BORING.

Interesting final paragraph in Roy's article:

"Coinciding with the scheduling battle is a mooted plan for the AFL to buy ANZ Stadium for its second Sydney team, also allowing it to be landlord to five NRL clubs. It is suggested this is a smokescreen for the AFL's main intention of using the adjacent Sydney Showground as a training and administrative centre for the team."

Can we deduce from that the "Western Sydney" team not only won't be playing in western Sydney, but won't be going anywhere near Blacktown.

So where does Roy's revelation leave Blacktown?

TEN men and three women walked into the AFL's inner sanctum five days ago for a meeting that stated its intention from the outset — to change the face of football.

And yet not one of their 13 faces would have been familiar to the AFL staff, visiting coaches or club officials or even any local media who may have been lingering outside the competition's Docklands headquarters on Tuesday.

Their host was AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou, along with four key members of his all-male executive team. For two hours and over a lavish three-course lunch served with good wine, the group laid the foundation stone for its ambitious but unanimously supported plan — the creation of an 18th football club in the greater and growing west of Sydney.

I'm not feeling the love people. Don't get riled by the AFL, that's what they want. ROFLYAO at them for being flicked from Sydney. Twice.
