2005 Premiers the Sydney Swans!!
What a great Grand Final - not the prettiest game but so hard fought and gutsy from both sides.
My commiserations to the West Coast team and fans....your side did you proud....
The Swans......not a team of champions.....but certainly a champion team.....a team that genuinely plays for each other
I think the spirit and self belief they show and the fact that they are a relatively young side will see them a strong contender next year as well.......
What they show in heart and self belief reminds me a lot of the current Tigers side....another champion team who don't have a mass of big names but play for each other and never say die....I think it will be enough to see them get up this weekend in a close fought Grand Final.
I forgot to mention was how impressed I was with Lewis Roberts-Thompson's input for the Swans...he had an absolute blinder and probably best on ground for the Swans over the course of the match. I never particularly rated this bloke throughout the season but he certainly stepped up to the mark in this game.
I was sadly disappointed with Micky O'Loughlin's kicking though...he had several set shots that meant the Swans should have done it easily towards the end of the match but he failed to produce when he needed to step up......I don't know if it was injury or what but he got himself into perfect position often enough to take the marks, so I can't see it being that...
Anyway, I'm still a happy boy today....
Cheer, Cheer the Red and the White...
