When your sport is reaching the main 5 capital cities it is going to get more coverage from A national carrier.

The NRL reaches the biggest three cites in Australia, over 75% of population. enough said

Yep and the envy of every other sport in the country. That is exactly the way I want the NRL to be. In fact if anyone ever mentioned any other type of football or reference to any other competitor to the NRL, I would take them out and shoot them. Metaphorically speaking of course.

When I hear commentators like Vossy reference AFL in his calls for instance I would read him the riot act if I were the NRL. You want our games rights, then only promote our freakin game!! You don't speak about our competitors or take paid commercials in the ad breaks or announce scores or anything to do with our competitors during our time on the air. We are in the business of Rugby League and nothing else. Period!!!

That should be a non negotiable element of the next rights deal. It would not cost us anything to demand such a clause in the contract.

F**k this we give everyone a fair go and a free ride at our own expense nonsense. Look where that has gotten us. We are now way behind that other sport by anyone's nonbiased measure. This is a war God damn it. How do they get to blackout us but be allow free kicks for them? Who does this in business? We need to grow a pair and mean it. We should demand what they get we get and then some. We are still the highest rating sport on television are we not? We should behave that way and swing our dicks accordingly.

Any and all references to that other sport should be deemed a dismissible offence unless it is to highlight an atrocity of theirs. Then lay it on think for all the mommies and kiddies to hear and see what a pathetic lot they are. That is what you do to your enemy. What you don't do is promote them and give them a fair go.

Marks could be taken in RL into the early 1960s and RU much later (still possible). Rabs is that old that he would remember them.
(Hard to believe now but someone catching a bomb could call “mark” and be given a kick without hinderance)

While that may be true, Ray Warren was using it lazily for every time a player caught the football.

A 'mark' stops play. Warren was saying this for when players caught kicks in general play, and played on.

He was an overrated numpty of a caller.
