I know this is only slightly relevant to this thread but felt like I wanted to share it somewhere. On the ABC news on the sports segment they just said one of the male riders in the giro d’talia had a fractured cervix and I lost my shit đŸ˜‚

Looking forward to the panel praising the Women’s State of Origin crowd on the next episode.

Their brains will short circuit... on one hand, positive women's sport story. On the other hand... must not praise RL

7:30 report does an in-depth report on International AFL - the final of the Europe-Atlantic Cup in Canada.
Usual images;
unfenced ovals, audience consisting of teams and men walking their dogs
I guess 7:30 needs some whimsy amid all the bad news stories.

I don’t know if I buy the whole AFLBC thing but that story was a pathetic puff piece that has clearly been paid for. Kinda sad for one of our premier political news shows tbh.

On a seperate note on backroads yesterday they had a story about Kurri Kurri and covered the rugby league team and had Mark Hughes on the show. The presenter of the show said that the team hadn’t won a flag in so many decades and all I could think was who the f**k calls it a flag in Kurri Kurri lol, the AFL doesn’t even exist there for most people.

Edit: whilst the story was garbage that AFL puff piece had one interesting thing in it that has been discussed on here before. In the US they do a great job with college and high school sports but after that there is a big dropoff with adults playing sports who aren’t professional.
