I haven't seen it but I've heard its one of the biggest flops in history
It hasn't done well, but "biggest flop in history" would be exaggerating a fair bit, I don't think it's in Heaven's Gate or Ishtar territory.

3 hours have never seemed so long. I watched it last night, and my head still hurts from the overwhelming barrage of boredom. Not even Rosario Dawson's spectacular rack could redeem it. Avoid at all costs.

The reason why the film did not do well in America was due to its homosexual content. In Europe though its a different story.. in Greece it broke box office records.
If you love your History the movie is excellent....

In Greece it broke office records? Of course it would, its a big budget movie which revolves around a portion of Greek history.......the homosexual content wasn't the ONLY reason why it didn't do well in America - its probably because not everybody wanted to watch a 3hr "epic" that they had already seen a year ago in the form of Troy

dude, Troy is about something COMPLETELY different...I mean, I see where you're coming from, but yeah...

anyway, I agree a bit with both sides of the story here. It is a poor movie, but when I went to it I had to endure the incessant childish laughter and scorn of most of my fellow moviegoers, directed at the entirely appropriate, true to life and very tame "homosexual content". I think this is a major reason for it's failure.

Godz is right though. The movie is extremely long, a bit cheesy and goes absolutely nowhere, and really has nothing to say. And Rosario Dawson is absurdly hot.

I found it interesting because it's historically accurate, but I thought Stone went too far with the sensationalism. If I wanted to see gay porn, I would've just rented a copy of Top Gun.

Troy was only referred to because of its similarities as a big budget historical movie.....i don't know much about history but i do know that they aren't the same stories lol

Worst ever film?????
Lucky I went and saw it for my self rather then rely on these so called experts in movies.
Its a Great film....
As it was narrated by Anthony Hopkins it was finished with the Quote :Megas Alexandros which means Alexander the Great in Greek.
Good onya Oliver Stone you've done a good job.

Thanks for that.

That actually surprised me though, the movie had me believing that all Greeks were actually Irish. Even Jared Leto's character had an Irish accent. Jared Leto is American. So that means he was putting on an Irish accent to play a Greek character. Hilarious.

If's thats the case then it should break all records in Auckland and beat LOTRs.

Troy was a shocker and still got a lot of good reviews which just shows a lot of critics are bent.
