When i first saw Anscombe start ahead of Anscombe, i thought it was due to his father, but hes proved me very wrong recently, to start ahead of Berquist when still a teen is a great effort, then to prove to everyone that its not just coz your old man is the coach is another.
Donald has proved to us that the gap between itm cup and international let alone S14 is huge, and its a case of you either have it or you dont, and Donald has been given 20 odd tests to prove that he doesn't, no offence to him, i'm sure hes a great bloke, who has alot to give, but this far out from a WC we have to be a bit ruthless.

Nic Evans is the player with the greatest potential that never was.... what it would mean to NZ chances if he came back next year, however somehow i dont think this is a possibility however i can only hope.
theres been some murmurings about him of late.... watch this space...

Not unless the NZRU buys out his contract... he recently signed until after 2012... After Macalister, spending big money to bring players back to NZ from Europe doenst have much support.

'Demon' Dave Holwell could well be available....

i'd take him over Donald,

however i'd also take Evans over Holwell, i hope he comes back, and Shiznit is right, they'd have to announce it soon tho, coz he has to play super 15 to be eligable for WC you'd think.

Donald..looks like an old man the way he plays. Very awkward style and looks nervous whenever he makes a decision.

It was clear last night that he had no cohesion with Nonu.

Give Cruden another crack...

Don't know how Slade is going in the ITM cup but he basically won them the 3rd Bledisloe. Him or Cruden would easily be better than Donald.

What about moa ? Could he move from half to 5/8 ? He is certainly big enough
I believe he should. I would like him to play at 10 for the Blues next year but he's obviously upset someone in Auckland rugby so it won't happen so Anscombe must start instead.

Back on Moa, definitely. He has the skillset and the ability to get quality ball to his outside backs. His problem is that he tries to do a bit too much at times but the ability is certainly there.

our line outs are just crap, not sure how we got away with a win

Lineout really went to crap when Faingaa came on. His throwing & timing was off. We have the height, so the lineout shouldn't be a problem.

There were quite a few positives out there. Front row is improved, Elsom & Pocock were destructive and the backs attack well. Genia was below par, which makes everything harder than it needs to be. With that backline we need a halfback who can deliver fast accurate ball. Other aspects of his play come second. Genia is not that style of player.

was great to have a win, but there is still a long way for the Wallabies to improve.
The goal kicking was disgraceful they could have won by 12-20 points if it had been decent. Saying that all Donald had to do was kick the ball out at the end.

Unfortunately it will just back the ABs a lot harder to beat next time.
But I am sure they won't mind if they get that absolute half wit of a referee again, I have seen some poor ones in my time, but he was one of the worst.

In fact he was the second biggest discgrace on the field, second only to Cooper in the second half

We urgently need to develop some alternatives at first five- time to give up on Donald. I seriously think our best options for 2011 are Slade and Weepu. Cruden needs a lot more time.

Also, time to give up on Toeava and the Rocketman- I have defended both of them in the past (especially Joe) but Toeava is all promise, no delivery and Joe is just simply not better than Dagg or Gear.

I am as glad as I can be that Australia won- its good for the game. When the Wallabies were running out onto the pitch in Hong Kong I realised that I was not nervous at all and hadn't been all week. Australia had to win that game to maintain that Bledisloes are worth tuning in for. Their scrum is terrible and they looked so much better with Barnes on than they did Giteau. He's a myth nowadays.

When you think of the players the Blacks left in NZ you can really see the power of NZ rugby.

SBW isn't even the best centre in the Canterbury team let alone NZ. Fruen has been playing all over him. Tialata (neck tatoo boy) Victer Vito (Danny devito's younger brother) franks, soliola, etc etc didn't even make the squad FFS

Freuen and Slade should have been on the tour- no question. Taking over Donald and Toeava was a joke

Tialata's days are done because he doesn't fit the mould of today's prop and his form hasn't been great. Same with So'oialo

Pretty sure Dagg is injured

Anyway, I'd take Dagg, Gear or even Ranger over Joe

Ranger imo.... (Northland Bias)

I hope a couple of our Northland boys get a good shake with he blues this season... imo Jarred Payne would walk into most other international backlines... im not saying hes good enough for the All Blacks... i think theres about 5 or 6 players better than him... but jezz hes a good player.

Dean Budd also... i hope he gets a go with the Blues this season...

Poor crowd of 26,210..

This match should have had more. Oh well.. Hopefully they end this experiment. Or make it every 2 years.

Rugby: I will never play rugby in New Zealand again, says Evans

He admits he still feels homesick at times, and suspects he'll never get over that.

Yet Nick Evans, the man who could have solved all Graham Henry's concerns and doubts about the back-up to Dan Carter for the Rugby World Cup next year, says starkly: "I will never play rugby in New Zealand again. It's too late for going back."

Evans, the great lost talent as far as New Zealand first five-eighths is concerned, will be at Twickenham tomorrow to see the All Blacks play England. But only as a spectator.

So won't he feel torn, not just this weekend but especially during the World Cup next year when he could well have been involved as Carter's obvious replacement?

"Definitely, yes. The old nostalgia will come back. But it's too late for me. It would have been nice to come over here [to England] earlier in my career, but I was a late starter, didn't play a first class game until I was 21/22. I made the All Blacks when I was 24 but the next thing you know you are 28 and at the end of this year I will be 30.

"When this contract finishes, I will be 32 so you have to look at it realistically. If I had come over when I was a bit younger I would have gone back. But as things stand I have pretty much closed it off [going back].

"But I don't regret the decision I made. I am enjoying my rugby, enjoying London. You have got to enjoy your job and I do ... I am able to do and experience things I would never have done in New Zealand.

"My pressure compared to Dan Carter's pressure is a lot different. Living in New Zealand as the central focus of the All Blacks is the greatest pressure you could imagine."

But why would he have turned his back on the All Blacks? Was that pressure too great?

"To a certain extent, I must admit I am glad to be out of all that.

"It is probably more the expectation required by the public of the boys. We felt that in 2007. That was why it was so gutting for us to see the public reaction when the boys got back home. There will be even more pressure next time with the World Cup actually in New Zealand."

So who does Evans believe the All Blacks should opt for as Dan Carter's back-up in the squad? The choice is critical for, as Evans himself says, "Dan Carter and Richie McCaw are very influential players. When they are not there, there's a certain amount of panic that emerges."

And Carter's deputy? "I think Aaron Cruden was dumped a bit early. He had that one test match [in Sydney] he started plus a few 10-minute jobs.

"Colin Slade and Stephen Brett seem to have gone off the radar. Then there's Stephen Donald. It was definitely unfortunate for him what happened in Hong Kong at the end and I know how he must have felt - I have been in that position before."

Is Donald really a test-level player? "He wouldn't be there if they didn't think he was test level ... For me, this tour would have been ideal to blood someone. Now, there is not a lot of time to mix and match any new blood before the World Cup. You want someone with at least 10 caps under his belt, especially in that position."

Which strengthens the case for Stephen Donald, despite Hong Kong.

As for this weekend, Evans is more exact in his forecasts. "I think it will be a good game, but I can't see England's fitness levels lasting the full 80 minutes ... England have only been together for two weeks and that is not enough time."
