lol its a piss take! A bit of satire based on Albos recent brain fart about Jets and Bears return.

As an aside, whilst many think Perth is the most isolated city in the world, it is in fact Honolulu. Perth is 2104km from the next nearest big city, Adelaide. Honolulu is 3841km from San Francisco, its closest big city

I don’t think a Honolulu based team is totally ridiculous… maybe not for the NRL but with the prospect of a US “NRL” gaining more and more traction it would probably be a good thing for some of the lost teams to align themselves with new US franchises.

With a Polynesian population that doesn’t have an NFL team, a Honolulu based RL team could capitalise on the guys there that don’t cut it in the NFL. I think the Hawaiians would go nuts for RL.

Honolulu Jets/Bombers, Vegas Black Bears, Florida Hurricanes, Boston Dirty Reds, Toronto Wolfpack…… could be a good start.

Hawaii is pretty much the only option if the NRL ever wants an American team but that’s a big if. Further tapping in to the American market would obviously be the aim, not sure whether a team in Hawaii would get much attention from mainland media & TV networks though.

Hawaii’s population isn’t huge either at 1.4m, about 950k on Oahu which the Island Honolulu is on.

With a 10 hour flight time from Sydney I’d imagine the team would have to play in blocks as well, plus any club playing in Hawaii would want at least an 8-9 day turnaround which could prove a logistical nightmare.

Still a better idea than the WaggaCoffsDubbo Bears.

Yeah, this is why a Hawaiian team would need to be part of a restructured USARL rather than part of the Aus game. Logistical nightmare otherwise.

On another note, the bears have already signalled their intentions for the US.

He didn’t seem very aware in that clip of him talking to Jordan Mailata in the airport(?). Mind you he didn’t know Mailata but talked to him because he said he was Samoan.
