Never would boo. I was disgusted when the crowd booed in a game a few years ago against the Cowboys. Boo the ref or the other team but not your own team.

I hate it myself but it's hard to begrudge anyone else who pays their money to watch them play do it...much prefer those supporters than the keyboard heores who never turn up to support them.

Getting back to the topic though...
I must say I find this strange. It appears most of us believe Burty was close to, if not, best on field. Why is Ando confirming his day's at fullback are gone?
This confuses me......

i thought burty was good, but i also thought it was his chance to really dominate that game and bring home the victory. the way he could dart around people in the dew made him look so lethal. but when he chose the soft options ingoal and didn't get more involved from fullback, i was disappointed as it was his chance to shine and prove people wrong

Maybe DA said what he said because he knows that:
a) he has a 10 year veteran in the squad that doesn't mind which position he plays, does the best he can week in week out, and doesn't care about what's said about him in the media
b) he has a young talent in the squad who isn't very mature and has a sook and doesn't put in unless he is picked in the position he wants, and a record of getting upset over what is said about him in the media

If you accept those two points, then DA's response to the question makes perfect sense...

Yep, but maybe DA has realised the only way to keep Jarryd performing is to pander to his ego... :?

if DA was serious and didn't expect fallout, he should have sat Hayne on the bench for at least half of the second half.

 Far from it LC... just trying to give some reasons to answer the question for why DA would have said what he did, when Burt was best on field playing in that position. It's a discussion forum - what is written doesn't mean life or death ;-), it's just discussion.

I agree with Born An Eel - in my part of the stand we were wondering why DA didn't simply hook Hayne (especially since he was sick), and stick Tautai in the backs instead.

The impression I got from what Ando said was that if Hayne is fit he will be fullback.... he didn't really say anything about Burt's days at fullback being gone, he was more just replying to the question about chopping and changing fullback and wing.

In my opinion Jarryd is the better fullback and it makes sense for the coach to say that he will play there...
Burt deserves to be in the side too and is playing well on the wing. I would imagine that Burt with his loyalty and his better utility value is happy to be in the side wherever he is picked.

I guess DA thought it was a tight one. We were never really in front on the score board.

Robson and Mortimer were not doing anything.

So who else has DA got to rely on to score points?

TT to centre and Lowrie to lock?

Alot of points in that choice.

If we had KK and Feleti on the field, then giving Hayne a break would be a no brainer.

But he didn't and there was no points in this current team. Over the last month including the SOO, Hayne has been very dangerous. Scoring tries and setting up tries.

So DA's logic was to leave him on and hope he can produce some magic.

What I would like to see is that Burt occasionally chimes in with his 2nd playmaker role ala Hunt to mix things up a bit.

During the tiges game, Burt played fb for sometime but never did the 2nd playmaker play.

Hayne hasn't got that down pat as yet so yeah, sometimes Hayne attacks in the opposition 20 and sometime Burt should get in there.
