Smith , Cronk and slater and the rest of the Aussies wouldn't want that f**king grub Fifita in the team anyway, glad he's gone. Let's hope Fifita can actually be a role model for once in his life and inspire some young Tongan kids. Everyone I know who's met Fifita in person said he's a total arrogant douch

Surely this means he's now ineligible to play for NSW...I mean it's clear he doesn't consider himself to be Australian, and the last I checked if you aren't Australian you can't play origin.

Obviously this is a pisstake, but it's exactly what these eligibility "rules" have become.
I think I would rather Taumalolo and Fafita leaving NZ & Aus for weaker teams than Semi leaving Fiji for Australia. I know they are different scenarios but these moves strengthen the lower ranked sides. As long as the players are genuinely eligible then I'm ok with it.

This is the move of a follower.

..oh well at least he's doing it for the right reasons unlike Taumalolo.
Taumalolo came out and said he's giving back to he's tongan nation and they need him more then the kiwis... And he's playing for he's parents not once did he say he's doing it cause he hates the coach... That's all media

Cracking up at all these kiwi legends and former coach's coming out and saying what taumalolo did was disrespectful... You've been doing this to the island nation every year ya idiots! It seems to be only these guys that have problems but it's mostly the fans that are happy with what he did...

Kind of hypocritical when they become the angel of death if anyone wants to rep Aus lol.
It's all getting a bit dramatic.

What island players have we stolen? Most are NZ born. Kata I will give you.

Off the top of my head the only other pacific born players to play for the Kiwis in recent times are Henry Fa'afili, Francis Meli, Motu Tony, Willie Talau, Hame Lauaki, Fuifui, Sam Moa & RTS. All of whom spent considerable time in NZ and NZRL systems before repping the Kiwis.

Didn't say they stole players but when kiwis pick island players no one says anything but as soon as they turn them down for a smaller nation all of a sudden it's a disgrace and disrespectful... Can't have it both ways

Define an "island" player? Like I said most of these players are NZ born or have NZ citizenship with pacific island heritage.

I think most of the disrespect is around the timing. If Lolo and the others had made this decision 6 months ago it would have been a ripple, doing it on the eve of the squad announcement and not contacting the NZRL personally is what is causing the furore.

Island player as nz born or island based player... It doesn't matter as long as they're eligible to play for nz... The problem I have is that they're calling what taumalolo did disrespectful... The way he did it was probably wrong... But let's be honest if he did it earlier he still would've been criticised for doing what he did

Your butthole hasn't yet stopped bleeding and healed after the fisting Moylan did to your side in Bathurst? If RCG plays and does well, theres more egg (or whatever) on your face...again.

RGC is a damaging runner of the ball and a ferocious tackler, and big Mal has rewarded his continual efforts.Even if he doesn't play a game, his experience within the Oz camp will be invaluable.

It's really sad that malcontents such as yourself have nothing of value to offer this website, except how much of a "plodder" a player is without once giving credit to a player who deserves it.

I don't think he's a scrub, but I just don't think he's as great as the commentators go on about him either. I see him run up and get tackled but I don't see him busting the line. I frankly do think he is overrated from what I have seen from him so far, but if he proves me wrong then I'll be happy to admit it. If I was NSW selector, I would pick Paul Vaughan next year before I would pick Reagan Campbell-Gillard.

Fair but when you compare what the kiwis and especially the kangaroos earn to what the Tongans make it's a massive difference

no it really doesn't.....JT earms $1m a year..you think he gives a toss about 50k?
They're both on good coin, but 50k is 50k.

1. nobody is earning 50k a test!
2.oz players only earn 30k if they play...squad players get fxxk all, fifita wasn't nailed on to start! Meaning fxxk all money
3. Given the NZRL financial state, they can't afford the rumoured $20k NZ players where supposed to get...why do you think taumalolo has jumped ship? He's a millionaire! He doesn't need to play for NZ for the money!

Forget money! The financial clout of the average nrl player, these days, means they don't have to play origin or for Oz & NZ for the money!

The monster that is the NRL TV deal and the substantial increase in player wages has killed the carrot that was Oz,NZ & origin!
