This forum is alarmingly quiet. Can we change the title to Fifita is SCUM.

I remember at origin two I was sitting close to the NSW bench and a NSW supporter yelled out "should have jumped" - at the time I thought "harsh" though now I have to agree, unfortunately.

Can't say I agree with that one.

When nrl360 talked about buzz rothfield relationship with an underworld figure paul kent said something along the lines of everybody is friends with controversial people, why if you look through my phone you'll find phone numbers of criminals and dodgy people, it's just a fact of life, no he shouldn't ve punished for it. But when guys like Norman, segaryo or fifita are mates with the same sort of people the same journalists demand suspensions and sackings.
Not saying i support fifita, what he done is pretty stupid, but jeez the nrl journos are hypocrits
Most normal people wouldn't know a criminal let alone deliberately hang out with one.

Killing someone cannot be considered a mistake. This dickhead also showed little remorse for the victim and is associated with an outlaw bikie gang. He should never be released.

Killing someone can be considered a mistake if it was accidental and / or remorse has been shown

But as you said, the perpetrator has shown no remorse and it certainly wasn't an accident that he punched someone in the head when he wasn't looking. His steroid abuse and alcohol abuse which led to his rage which led to the punch wasn't an accident either.

Kieran Loveridge has shown himself to be utterly suited to his current residential situation

Andrew Fifita has let himself down with his stance here.

I suppose it depends on your definition of a criminal

Is a criminal someone who breaks the law or someone who makes a living out of breaking the law?

I doubt many people know Mafia members. But everyone knows someone who has received a speeding ticket.

I think you know what I mean. I know people who have been inside but I wouldn't be associating with violent ice addicts

Being off your face on booze or drugs when you commit a crime shouldn't be used as a defence - it should add years to the sentence.

So media is reporting that Fifita used to be the blokes coach when he was younger

This is way worse than associating, it's calling for the release of a convicted murderer

Not that it makes any difference but I'm fairly sure the charge was reduced to manslaughter. Shit human, whether you coached him or not - and the effect it has had on the victim's family, their youngest bloke (brother) took his own life.

The younger brother, fighting for harsher one punch killer laws, bullied into suicide, trying to make a difference. Fifita is just next level here, insanely insensitive on all levels.

Fmd if my best mate got pissed and randomly hit and killed an 18 year old I would never look the merkin in the eye again.

I'm sure if someone like Cam Smith or Billy Slater went and visited someone they knew in childhood or someone they once coached who was currently in prison this story would have a different spin on it

Unfortunately "being a bigger f**kwit than normal" isn't a criminal offence
I agree. I most certainly don't agree with Fifita, nor do i condone who he hangs out with.

But he hasn't done anything other than being an insensitive arsehole with shit associates.

I think everyone needs to calm down a lot.

I dont believe the issue is him visiting the merkin, the issue is his FKL written on his arm. if he's known the merkin from before , whether coaching or otherwise i dont think the fat merkin should be banned form visiting, but publicly writing FKL on your strapping in a prominent place is disgraceful and insulting to the family and friends of Thomas Kelly.

as for it being a "mistake" the merkin attacked several people that night in unprovoked attacks. maybe if one of your friends or family were seriously hurt or killed by this merkin you wouldn't be calling it a "mistake".

and finally if Smith or Slater visited someone they knew in jail i bet they wouldnt be writing to free them on their strapping because they're not shit human beings like fifita

So when do all parra and dragons players receive their warnings for associating with criminals?
Norman & Co did recieve warnings earlier in the year but didn't get such a media bash up over it.

Still my thoughts did go to, are all players going to get a warning for associating with Packer?
