Yep. Webster wasting Roger on the wing and gambling on Metcalf at halfback are the two big talking points among some fans and analysts in the NRL. On top of that, his bench management and overall team dynamics need serious attention.

Who’s actually worse than us in terms of roster and performance? Honestly, I don’t even think the Roosters are that bad, despite getting thrashed by the Broncos last night.

We are also very predictable and boring.
RTS not at fullback just makes no sense to me… no knock on CNK, but … yeah enough said

Worse rosters? Dunno, we’re as bad as anyone, without a close look Dragons, Knights and us all equally plod?

Exactly, thats why i was hoping Webster would unleash more of these young guns that Sup42 kept praising all last year. Because we know exactly what we have this year and its not much.
Leka had that game where he almost scored a try on his own and then Webby put the pool cue back in the rack. Why?
Same with Demetric. Zyon never got a go. had the headhigh suspension at the start of the season and then he came back and played 1 game off the bench? maybe 2? Paul Roache played amazing against the Panthers in magic round. Never saw him again.
So yeah, i would rather this was a rebuild season blooding youngsters, shedding the dead wood, and maybe make a play for a gun player next year in FA.

I dont really give a f**k if we get the spoon this year. Broncos got the spoon in 2020 but no one remembers that as they got their shit together and now they are a contender.

Agree, rebuilding needed, have a few years to build around Barnett, JFH and RTS

I hear you, but Webster is the guy who runs our structure.

Yeah some idiot in the main forum said ‘Webster’s not going to make a difference when your roster is this shit’, as if he has nothing to do with the roster or its shitness.

Granted, we don’t see and appreciate every thing, but it just seems from the stands as if he is making things worse. Weird that the average Warriors fans still holds him up as being some untouchable demigod

I just remembered we've signed Webster through to 2028, which is just ludicrously and characteristically amateurish and reactive from the club. Surely if this year doesn't show some improvement, he's under a lot of pressure.

Quite aside from Webster, I'm sick of the Warriors signing, extending and sacking coaches. It's just a circus.

It's a very fair point, I was going to say in hindsight but potentially that was said at the time by some people.

I can only say as a devil's advocate that there is the possibility Webster's manager came to us saying there was interest elsewhere. If not, then yeah - a very amateur decision.

I'm not going to say 2023 was a fluke because that's ridiculous, but he hasn't shown enough since to prove he's the guy

Was it McFadden that was given a juicy extension after 1-2 games ?

Same lineup, same bench usage. Said he wanted to give them a chance to atone, and they did.
I don't think this is accurate (but tell me if I'm wrong). Against Canberra, Jackson Ford actually started despite wearing the 14, and Erin Clark was on the bench despite wearing the 13. That I am certain about. But I also am less certain that at some stage both Barnett and Fisher-Harris were off the field against Canberra, whereas there was always one of them on the field against Manly.

I thought Ford was far more effective yesterday. Came on and rolled his sleeves up and kept the pressure on, good metres and no errors. The forward rotation was effective. Demetric and Leka got reasonable spells at the back end too.
Niukore was also more effective, he was bending the line and sucking in defenders.

Remember last year.

Round 4, looked bloody good against the Rabbitohs. Maybe Webster is a genius after all (Then Rounds 7, 8, 9, 10)

Barnett stayed on when JFH went off, when he went off (Barnett) he stayed off I believe.

The big question here is which performance is the anomaly? Round 1? Or Round 2? Time will tell

I thought that was Niukore’s best game for us in a long time. Maybe ever.

Not a huge number of runs and not even big metres or even a single line break. But every run was aggressive and purposeful, which they then played off the back of when running their favourite right side shape.

But I’ve been waiting for that from Marata for a long time. Hopefully there’s much more of it.

He got pinged for inside the 10 once, I think it was when the ref gave a penalty and then rescinded to a 6 again cause it happened just outside the 40. But he was solid throughout and did a good job.
