Langer 4 titles to Sterlos 3, sh*t all over him when it came to performing at SOO and Johns for that matter.
And its true, the Immortal tag is a bit of wank, it was started by League Week for Christs sake as a promotion.

Who retired in 2002 just to give us an idea just how long 5 years out of the game really is.
mongoose said:Langer won 4 titles behind a monstrous brisbane forward pack and one of those titles was super league- But yet Stuart and Sterlos teams were better, do you know your history, won the 98 title so I think its fair to say there SL title is legit-. He may have a better record than sterlo at origin but then ricky stuart has a better record than langer - Its not about the teams record, Qld was strong early in Langers Career , NSW late in his career, win or lose he was rarely outplayed in SOO - so I guess Stuart sh*ts all over all halfback at origin level.

Noa Nandruku said:Honestly anyone who says that Sterlo is a greater player then langer is to young to have watched him. Sterlo could control a game better and had a better long-kicking game but Langer was still the much more dangerous player.
Might have played in some great teams (I dont think the early 90's teams were anything special) but he was still the dominant player in those sides you couldnt say that about Sterlo or Stuart who were important complimentary players.
Sterlo - 81- 87 = 7 great years
Stuart - 89 - 95 = 7 great years
Langer - 87-98 = 12 great years.
Please.
PS. Alan Langer caused the ARL to change there laws twice. Tell me another half besides Joey whos had that much influence on the game
thats fair to a point.. but to be equally fair to johns, he was either played out of position to kimmorley or even injured at origin time for a lot of his career. i'll never forget one particular origin (can't recall the year) that johns played utility off the bench so that kimmorley could be in the side.. and every time his feet touched the turf NSW scored tries.. he must have set up like 5 of them or something.. it was amazing to watch someone come off the bench and have such a profound impact on a game.johns_reds said:Stuart was a great player and a good coach, but not an immortal IMO
I think it should be meniga, langer or sterlo as the next immortal, Im all for johns being an immortal but lets wait at least 5-10 years before inducting him.
Who knows maybe in 3-4 years we might be saying Lockyer was the better player as he played longer, won more, who knows he might even dominate the next 3 origins the way johns did only once in 05 the rest of johns SOO appearances were average IMO
