Maybe he will get better and become the top edge backrower in the comp. Or maybe this sort of attention puts a target on his back and he crumbles. Hard to say.

He did have a break out year, and as mentioned he's very talented. But next year, he will be put on notice and opposition will be doing a lot more work on him. The real big danger men will go hunting for him and he may not get the room to work with. He'll have to adjust his game from being a flashy, creative player to being a workhorse. And at 21, it's a tough gig to deal with. It's what separates the top shelf backrowers - the Cordner, Gillet and Hoffman's - from the 'decent' edge backrowers - the Guerra, McQueen and Cooper level. He's certainly not guaranteed.

Personally, I'm more excited to see what Host can do if given a proper opportunity over a season in his actual position than I would be if we signed Crichton.

Actually BV I'm with you. I think we have enough talent in our juniors to at least match (if not exceed) what Crichton provides. And that's just one player and one position. We have exciting young talent across the board. I'm keen to see what Lomax brings this year.

Yes Crichton had a great year, but seriously, just because a player comes on the market doesn't mean we need to throw everything we have at them and then blame the club and recruitment when it doesn't happen. Some people in here just have unrealistic expectations.

Exactly, remember we are Dragons supporters not Rooster supporters. We need to know our place. We are much further down the food chain and should consider ourselves fortunate to be given the opportunity to pay up for other clubs unwanted players.

As Benny V proudly spouts; "....there's a whole lot of sour grapes..." Yeah Benny you tell em, like f**k what do they expect ... Even Stevens? Come on know your place guys and stop putting Crap on Politis and that eloquent and proud club, there's no way they're cheating the system, I won't hear of it.

If you can't see a problem in that 3 players will be taking up 3 million and they have to pay another 27 in their squad plus handle upgrades than that demonstrates the hold uncle Nick has over the NRL. IMHO the sums can't add up .

No different to the Storm having their big 3 for all these years. They have managed to keep Slater, Smith and Cronk on their books even after being busted for cheating the cap.

They just found a way to build a team around them.

It’s possible if you know how to manage your cap and stay within the rules (which teams like the Eels and Manly have failed to do).

We tried but can not compete with the rooster.
They have a lot of money behind them.
I told you we were trying but he was going to go to the roosters.
You can't beat them when it comes to money.
Your personal vendettas should not effect your judgement but they do.
Millward and his team are one of they only areas at the dragons that are doing a good job.
Reports are that there were only two clubs in the race, Sharks and Roosters. Millward never said he was after him and nobody said Dragnons were chasing him except for a few on this forum.

In my opinion the Storm are still cheating; they have just found a way to not be caught out.

For goodness sakes, we could not afford to keep or replace Dugan with like for like or better. We couldn't keep Packer and buy Graham. We now have only one SOO player - Frizell - and are apparently at or near our salary cap limit. The Roosters have a squad full of marquee players and still under the cap. We have two marque players and can't afford another .

The difference is we have a fist full of young players with potential in a squad of average first graders while the Roosters have a few young players with potential in a squad full of marquee players.

No the Storm just rely on their big 3 and pay them the big bucks, and then surround them with their best juniors and astute buys.

Vunivalu, Addo Carr, Curtis Scott, Tim Glasby and Dale Finucane would have been on minimal contracts when they joined. Same with Cam Munster, Jordan McLean and Brodie Croft who came through their junior system. Cheyse Blair is another guy who wouldn’t have cost a lot.

The Storm like the Roosters just get the best bang for buck with their players and only pay the big bucks to those who can deliver premierships.

Well done to the Roosters. They saw their man and went out to grab him, don't let any bullshit stand in their way. Whole lot of sour grapes in here!

Tough on Rabbits. We all saw what happened when Beau Scott signed for Knights early on, shit to see a player run around waiting for the following year. Personally I'd dump him to reserve grade for the year.

But, umm...is he really worth it? He's young and talented but he's had 1 good year! Could easily be the next Aiden Guerra or Chris McQueen - solid at best but mostly living of the reputation he built in a single good year of footy...
Of course he's worth it- everybody knows that Angus beef is premium quality

This what I'm talking about. What people like you want is for the club to go out and fork out money for every player that comes off contract. If we don't get them, then the club gets blamed. If they do get them, that means the juniors then don't have a 'pathway' and they look to leave - and the club gets blamed. Like I said, unrealistic expectations.

Not saying I believe we are playing on even playing ground, but you have to be realistic with what the club can and can't achieve.

Well this is what we need to do. I think we have the talent and I think Millward realises that and is shaping the team to provide an avenue for them. The questions is, will Mary provide that opportunity?

Poor old Mose went off with a shoulder injury in his debut game for Hull KR. I'd hazard a guess his career is finally over. But then again....

I don't believe it ! That poor begger must had eaten someone's black cat and he received 7 years off bad luck for his trouble .

In truth though , I was so disappointed that we never got to see him run onto the field in 1st grade . I realise that he suffered serious injuries to his knee and that basically sealed his fate at the Dragons . Still , sad to hear about the mans latest injury .

I understand where TrueBeliever is coming from and do agree that we should not be forking out for every top shelf player that pops up. I do concede the Dragons have done many things right recruitment wise themselves. Adding key signings but more importantly really focusing on retaining most of our young prospects. I'd much prefer the club do this but realise this won't bring instant success but after reading other people's points of view have come to the conclusion that this concept may well be the best way for the club to build a strong foundation going forward.

I would think we are well covered in the back row and couldn't justify spending that amount on Crichton.
Not that we could compete with the Roosters cash anyway.
If we are short anywhere maybe 1 prop or a couple of outside backs if we had the cash to spend.
In the forwards we have enough experience to rely on the younger ones coming through.
The outside backs are the worry for me.
