it was the raiders hq behaviour which made him think he was above the law. there he was driving without a license, speeding, evading police (was he drunk too?). the raiders response? Sack Irwin. After that of course Carney would think you'd never do anything to him
lol wow, you really do have a good grasp of the events that played out down here.
Firstly Irwin was sacked because that was the last straw for him. He was guilty of several previous off-field incidents that you wouldn't hear of because he wasn't even a first grade player. That and he had been at the club for a year. Of course the club would show a bit of leniency toward a guy they had developed since he was 14. But the Rooster's wouldn't know anything about developing players.
You think the club let him think he was "above the law"? After that incident he was fined, dropped from first grade for most of 2007, they barred him from training with firsts and had to train with the juniors, had to work with the disabled every day (said he enjoyed it so much he would come back and help them out anyway, of course the haven't heard from him since) and had to attend counselling sessions for his drinking.
Hardly the slap on the wrist you make it out to be.
So a year later he goes and p*sses on someones head. He gets a chance to keep playing football with a sh*tload of money but refuses to give up the drink, gets sacked and banned by the NRL for a year.
Surely that would be a big enough wake up call? Nope. Gets drunk a few weeks later, starts jumping on cars and gets banned from Goulburn. Of course this is all the Raider's management's fault.
....and who are the Roosters fan's to say we have poor management. Your mob keep guys on the books who get drunk and sh*t in hotel hallways. You finally have the balls to sack a guy after several drinking incidents and then hire him back 6 months later.
This is why everyone hates your joke of a club.
I hope they enjoyed playing in front of a crowd over 10,000 for a change.
