Its harder to find an nrl gf without an * , and unfortunatly this year is no different. I heard a respected RL journo say on radio that you cant pay a nominal amount of your choosing to stay under the cap . I take that to mean Mark Gasnier being worth say 500 k a year, thats the amount allocated .

It shouldnt matter he only played half a year, but lets be nice and say they can do that . Hes played half a season 250k . So the saints had 250k unspent in this years cap ?

Or does that 250k come out of the next few years cap .How accomadating of the nrl to allow a duel international to join a team already leading the comp and presumably at the cap limit . It all sounds a bit sus .

Ill give it an * for now, with a definate chance to be upgraded to * * along with 97 knights (drugs) ,2004 bulldogs ( illegally assembled) , 2006 brisbane (12 australian players , 4 SOO +shane perry ).

Just a heads up buddy.

RL Journo's are not respected and are not reliable sources of information or even rumours.

Who is this "respected journo" who spoke on radio?

David Gallop and co. completed a full investigation into how we could fit Gasnier in before he signed, hence the prolonged delay, and allowed the signing to go ahead.

Nice try though...

wow.. you've chosen to have a brain fart in a pretty public forum and you've stuffed it up massively...

to help you understand how it all works, clubs can chose to allocate their funds as they see fit, so long as all payments in a calendar year are under the salary cap (mr waldron, if you are reading, take note).. clubs can chose to back end a contract if they chose, it means though that they will have a weaker playing roster in years to come (hence the dragons shedding of messers j smith, n costigan, l priddis, r thorby, m lett, j paulo, b henry for next season..)

so.. i understand that you are sad that your team didn't win, but maybe have a big think next time before hitting the "new thread" button...

Gasnier is not a duel international, in fact I believe duelling is prohibited across most of the world, no matter how accomadating the ruling governments may be. Which is unfortunat and definately a bit sus.

He's not a dual international either

Even though Melbourne were illegal, Dragons will always be the Claytons premiers because they never beat the best team in the comp.

I don't understand that logic. I hate the Dragons as much as anyone, but why should they have to beat an illegal team to be legitimate premiers, when that "best team in the comp" were never legitimate premiers (this century).

Painful to say, but the Dragons deserved to win. Just like Souths will be very deserving premiers in 2011.

lol Manly and Parra rightly refuse to accept the premiership after not beating Melbourne because they didnt beat the best but the Dragons happily do..... Go figure aye?
