wow.. you've chosen to have a brain fart in a pretty public forum and you've stuffed it up massively...

to help you understand how it all works, clubs can chose to allocate their funds as they see fit, so long as all payments in a calendar year are under the salary cap (mr waldron, if you are reading, take note).. clubs can chose to back end a contract if they chose, it means though that they will have a weaker playing roster in years to come (hence the dragons shedding of messers j smith, n costigan, l priddis, r thorby, m lett, j paulo, b henry for next season..)

so.. i understand that you are sad that your team didn't win, but maybe have a big think next time before hitting the "new thread" button...

So when the CEO says midseason we can't afford that bloke from union or the uk , it's all BS

In fact any team , even when their at or close to the cap level can buy any player/s they want , win a gf and sort the finances later .

Luke priddis is about 40 and the others would be the normal attrition from a club at the top for 2 years allowing for upgrades etc .

Which CEO said that ?

In fact any team , even when their at or close to the cap level can buy any player/s they want , win a gf and cut a few players in following years . That's great everyone should do it , from now they will ,meanwhile having a cap was no use .

Maybe you should tell us all....

WTF you mean.
Luke priddis is about 40 and the others would be the normal attrition from a club at the top for 2 years allowing for upgrades etc .

I am sure that Luke would be impressed to be still playing NRL at about 40.

Here's a tip.

Turn off the computer, hide the car keys and have another drink.

f**k this.

Perry, either shut the fuhk up or come out and make an accusation, this leaning somewhere in between is bloody bullsh*t.
Just come out and say, but be prepared to stand by it and/or provide proof.

You either have balls or you do not.

Get the f*ck over it. The dragons won start thinking about next year.

Gasnier was terrible and IMO he barely even deserved a spot on the team. They would of won without him, i dare say they could of been a better team without him.

The only issue here that i think needs to be looked at is the massive backloading or frontloading of contracts. However i feel quite confident that this is being done by most if not all clubs and is certainly not isolated to the dragons.

It is also not a reason to put an * next to the 2010 premiership.

Edit: and unless Gasnier improves a lot i think his signing was a bad one. They will now end up paying him a lot over the next few years and i question if he is worth that.

People complain about backending Inglis and he's going to be 26 at the end of his contract. Gasnier will be in his 30s when he's getting paid the most and they'll be forced to let go of good younger players to pay him. IMO it wasn't a good buy and I don't think they'll get value for money.

Seriously, whatever happened to that train Nathan Rees was going to name after Jarryd Hayne?

Additionally, why wasn't a bus at least named Mark Ganier this year, or a ferry named the Beaver in 2008?

These are the big issues, where's Perry Como when you need him?

I tell you what, in 2012 we'll count up the premierships each team has won over the previous three years and see who got the better bargain.

We scored three tries down his side in the GF. You don't think Gasnier's presence had anything to do with Joseph Leulia twice rushing up on him off his wing, opening the passage for Nightingale? Never mind the try Gaz scored himself in that game.
And in the prelim final, Gasnier played a big part in the equalising try by Nightingale firstly with the quick catch and pass, and then backing up to keep the break going.
Oh and his try against Manly in the first final was ok too.

Gaz has already provided value for money, it's engraved on the trophy

edit. Just announced that we have signed Adam Cuthbertson. That makes it pretty obvious that we're not cheating the cap lol

Just like how when Melbourne signed Brett Finch and almost Willie Mason, we knew they were fine.

Counting to 2013 would be even fairer.. Inglis's contract goes to 2013, Gasnier to 2014. But in 2013 Gasnier will be another year older, 32 to be precise, and on an enormous amount of money for a 32 year old.

It's extraordinary the amount of people that think they have some inside knowledge.

It's a fact that Saints are tightarses when it comes to signing players. The club generally sign along one or more of the following guidelines:

1. Discards from other clubs (eg Weyman, Costigan, J Smith, Boyd)
2. Players of low profile
3. Local juniors
4. Long term senior players

In reality, Gasnier (a local junior) is the only real major signing.

The only possible other exception is Jeremy Smith, but even he was not wanted at the Storm. He didn't come cheap and Saints have now let him go. This freed up a lot of cap money.

So Gasnier is signed, J Smith and Neville Costigan have been let go as well as other lower tier players. Previous to that, loads of good players have been let go because their asking price went up and we simply could not afford to keep them - eg J Morris, J Poore. If their asking price drops when they are next off contract, then maybe they'll come back. But Saints have shown that they don't sign or retain players if it means they'll exceed the cap. That's business. It's absurd to compare this to Melbourne Storm who tried to keep almost all their their big ticket players.

Now we see another discard in Cuthbertson being signed, and a NSW Cup prop in David Gower. Both examples of players signed on the cheap. This is consistent with the club's policy that has been in place for some time.

The biggest signing of course is coach Bennett. And of course that has nothing to do with the cap, but it does mean when we do a sign a 'dud', there's a better than even chance he'll turn into a star. Look at what he did with Weyman and Costigan. Cuthbertson probably can't believe his good fortune.

Hmmmmmmmmmm
Cuthbertso wouldn't have cost stuff all BUT if any player is going to "test" Waynes ability to turn him into something decent, this could very well be it.
His defence isn't that great, not a good start when the team is built on defence, and his offloading can be a bit ad hoc most of the time, also not good when the team you have signed for plays a structured game that at times involves no second phase play for 10 minutes of possesion at a time.
He will either adjust to this and follow the coaches instructions, or be banished to reserves.
If he adjusts and uses his god given size as it is intended (battering ram for 40 minutes with 10 minutes of flash at the end) then it might work, fitness needs to improve though.

Pick any year, 2050 if you like. I'm not fussed. Let's compare notes then.

Your probably right , non issue .

In fact next year when souths are leading the comp midseason and decide to plonk sbw into the team I'll join you cheering from the sidelines .

Has anyone really been far as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Certainly makes more sense than the OP. If ever you need confirmation that you're an imbecile, it arrives in spades when you have the Baron's support. Well done Perry, join the parade of the pathetic.
