break the link between SOO and National representation....that's the key and that's what everyone should be advocating for...

I agree. Tests are international games. SOO is a domestic series.
Kiwi's should be able to play SOO without jepordising their Kiwi status. (It's not their fault if they are better than NSW or Queensland can produce at home.)
As well the Kiwi jersey should have a greater value than to just give it to any emerging player just to protect his future elidgibility.

I have a few questions

1. What do Kiwis get money wise when they play in the black and white per game?
2. How much do Origin players get per game?
3. Can International players get the same $$$ as Origin players now per game? If not now how can this be implemented?
4. Can we just add NZ in the state of origin like in the super league years?

People who moan about traditions need to look at the state of the game now, it's changed alot anyways. So in theory wouldn't it be just better to add the Kiwi side in this so called pinnacle of Rugby league. NSW and QLD haven't got the best players now. The Kiwi's do and that's why Mal and Ricky are looking in our talent pool

Bring on a Stage Of Origin Tri Series, the Kiwi's will probably beat QLD before NSW does LOL

1. Somewhere between 2 and 4 grand.
2. 20-25k, soon most likely to be raised closer to 50k
3. No. Not enough money to pay them that amount
4. Hell no! The best thing would be a 3 Test series between Australia and New Zealand with SOO being earlier in the season as a one off game. So effectively reversing what is currently in place, chance of that happening are almost non existent though because of the money state of choice generates. Besides I would rather we beat Australia then australian state sides.

A good article on this issue at NRL.com

http://www.nrl.com/a-new-origin-debate-emerges/tabid/10874/newsid/68108/default.aspx

Suggestions I've read on this thread such as increased payments for international games to make them more financially competitive, a NZ State of Orgin concept type series, or securing players early by selecting them for meaningless games, are pretty silly really - they do nothing to address the root causes of the issue and would probably worsen the situation.

It wouldn't work as the money men and officials would shaft us making sure Qld play NSW in the final.

For those with short memories, or who don't know, that's exactly what they did in 1997 during the Super League. Was it Sean Hoppe? He scored a winning try v NSW but it was disallowed, thus guaranteeing the Blues met Qld in the final.

I thought the series was a good one though, but inevitably cheapened test football.

Yep, that was Sean Hoppe, and I think every man and his son would agree that was a case of blatant cheating.

At face value sounds like a good thing, but as a strategy for stopping SOO draining NZ players from our national team, its shit.

Attempting to match Kiwi rep player payments with the much bigger and more commercially viable entity that is SOO is foolish. New TV deal - SOO payments to double to 50grand. Maybe a year or two later they go up to 75grand or 100 or whatever. If NZRL (whom I presume cough up the dough for kiwi reps) try and keep pace with SOO payments then pretty soon it will go very bankrupt. And if it doesn't keep pace, then the C.ASH incentive remains to entice NZ players to SOO (and by default, Australia).

Solution, forget about the money aspect cause we can't win that battle, focus on the sorting out the eligibility issue (can play SOO and NZ (or other) and the money incentive is taken out of the equation.

Oh no I understand it's not realistic to expect that the Kiwis can get paid as much, I was just taking your statement on face value that internationals shouldn't get paid as much.

Classic mate, what you actually did was purposefully misrepresent a clear statement so you could then make a stupid, facetious comment.

I don't know whether your were trying to be funny or your just a dick, but either way that seriously brightens my day!

 A clear statement? You said that raising international payments would be a bad thing without any reasoning, I just took the statement for what it was. Stupid, facetious comment?? Wowza, some might say that is a stupid comment in itself. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings and hope you are OK.

Also *you're

I'd prefer it if you were sorry for your abysmal paraphrasing as my feelings are fine, but my key messages did receive a right rogering.

And thanks for clearing up my grammatical errors, the possessive adjective always confuses me:

your an arse
you are an arse
your's an arse
youse an arse
you'd be an arse

And some would say I'm expert on that :sarcasm:

And hey no problem, whenever you're in doubt, just think would Fast Eddie use you're or your right now? It'll get you through the tough times.
