Why can't we wait to see how we go this year.
It's not like other clubs are knocking his door down to sign him.
Typical dragons.

No surprise and was always going to happen.
There's more to being head coach than just raw results and Griffin has done an admirable job securing the future of the Dragons with the systems he's set up, from jnrs rhrough to 1st grade.
This will also aid in recruitement for next year with a 'settled' coach in place.

Extending his contract when a game hasn’t been played yet and, after the previous season, hasn’t shown anything yet. That’s the dragons for you. They’ll be the death of me

We haven't played a single minute in 2022 and the coach ( the "old-school disciplinarian" whose squad went ahead and held a BBQ during Covid lockdown despite being asked not to and who has masterminded an 8 match losing streak) already has a twelve month extension.
Btw, there's no truth in the rumour that the club song is being replaced with the single line
"You just don't know what you're doing" sung to the tune of Guantanamera.

Yep. 100 percent agree with you.
I’d love to get a job at the dragons. It’s the Easiest place to work.

Not a game has been played, you have proven nothing. Or you can be mediocre for your entire tenure like McFlop, and you still get a contract extension.

If we were a strong shot of making the 8 half a year down the track then this would make sense, but alas, no as per usual.
Conveniently sliding this in now before the trials either for junior/squad certainty or so that the majority don’t even realise it happened.
Not quite as mind boggling as the previous coaching extensions however it isn’t far off IMO

As far as I am concerned the board made the right call.

Year 1, Griffin cleared the decks of most of the deadwood.

Year 2, he has a squad which closely resembles what he feels we need.

Year 3, Griffin consolidates and fine tunes the squad, with the gun juniors having had the experience of year 2.

The last thing we need is Griffin having to look over his shoulder with the media beating it’s drum attempting to create a negative story at the first sign of a lapse in team performance.

I actually cant believe Channel 9 tipping us for wooden spoon....is there a bet we can place against this? can someone post some odds? i think as a forum we raise $10K and put it on if the odds are juicier enough,..
The latest market I saw had us third favourite for the spoon, equal with the Warriors and behind Wests Tigers and Cowboys. We've moved up the rankings. Still long odds to make the Grand Final though.

Mary had the squad he wanted, too - and look what he did with it...
It's a competitive sport - the players should feel like they have to look over their shoulder cos if they don't do the work some guy in reggies will have their jersey. Ditto the coach.
