Like Daz said it would be bizarre to sack him now this close to the finals and wouldn’t make sense to announce now that this is his last year as we are still a chance (albeit minuscule in my opinion) to win the comp.

One of Gus or Hook isn't surviving beyond 2018. Relationship is now done between the two of them. I can't see it working into 2019.

Jeez that's massive.

I remember when Gus was first hired there was a poster (I think it was Darkbloom?) who mentioned that Gus would have his downsides. It was a long time ago, but the gist was that he was prickly, stubborn and would burn relationships across the club. We needed deadwood gone at the time, so a guy like that was a positive. Now?

I don't know how much responsibility Gus bears for things having gotten to this point, but I can't see a world in which the situation getting this serious in this moment with Griffin is a positive in a season where we're very much in the mix for a premiership.

From what I've heard Griffin comes across as a good bloke on camera but he isn't the nicest bloke behind the scenes.

well we lost Moylan for whatever reason on the eve of the finals and we still made it to week 2 and going down honourably to Brisbane.

I think the club would handle sacking Griffin - we'd be written off by everyone and that's when we look our most dangerous.....

I could see Ciraldo taking the reins with Gus in his ear - I don't think we would change gameplans (whatever that is) dramatically this season if this was to happen, so it wouldn't be a monumental culture shift at the club.....

definitely sounds like Griffin wont be seeing out his contract...

So they're going to tell him to do his best with the side to win the premiership this year, and then here's your two years salary and thanks for coming?

Doesn't sound right. Maybe they're sacking him on the spot, but it would have to be serious with the team still in the premiership running and only 4 rounds to go. Suspect we'll hear about this on NRL360 and such.

Or maybe the board just want to discuss the team getting behind repeatedly and ask him what he's doing about it. Or why he has been playing Maloney injured. Or what he knows re Merrin's hissy fit yesterday. There are a few things happening when you add them up. But having listened to Gus speak I would expect him to back the coach.

Hook will certainly be the one going out of Gus/hook IMO. Gus will rightfully be criticised, he hired and extended Griffin. If Hook really is rubbing people the wrong way we had two years to figure it out and lost Moylan due to that reason, I mean wtf did he extend him for, that's doubling down on a poor decision, purely an ego driven move.

No way we sack him now. Might decide this is his final season. But no way he's not seeing this season out.

Nothing to gain by sacking him immediately. Although there was nothing to gain when we extended him either.

If Gus didnt extend him we could have been looking for a new coach and not having to sack him.

There might be, depends how bad things really are. Teams often jump in performance after sacking a coach midseason. If the relationship really is as bad as Daz has been informed than what is the point of keeping hook on? He could cause a lot of problems as a disgruntled head coach who knows he is gone.

Get rid of hook and we might start playing like we are down 18 points from the kick off.

I would actually be very happy with that. Gus back with Brandy and Fitler, its the f**king dream team.

I mentioned it not long ago, Gus has said he's intent on getting him here by 2020..

We can only hope... Great fit now Freddy has finally matured (a little anyway)

What could be serious enough to take a gamble that big on the eve of the finals?

Unless the players are threatening not to play. I think just holding on 5 to 8 weeks or so is the most obvious outcome. If we sacked him now it could de-rail the season without time to fix it.

It's happened in the game before. I agree it wouldn't be a great idea.

What other club would get rid of a coach who made the finals three years straight, for a coach who got the spoon with the Roosters. Worse than the Warriors appointing a coach who took the spoon at Parra (which has turned out pretty well). It takes special coaching talent to come last at the Roosters.

If that meeting is really happening, then the outcome would surely leak within hours or days at most.

I can’t see a destabilising meeting like that happening only a few weeks from the finals. It would be stupid from a management point of view. Even if their minds were made up that Griffin was going, you’d leave him to finish the season without disruption, not jeopardise everything a few weeks out.

Again I call bullshit on it.
