No, he has a "I can break contract because my dad is sick" clause in his contract. Just like Sticky had a "I can break contract if the Eels suck too much" in his contract.

Hoffman has neither and reportedly wants to break contract because he has a case of the sads.

Tough life isn't it buddy...

That is incorrect according to Sam Ayoub....do you know more about Milfords contract than his manager. Interesting.

Sam Ayoub clearly stated that the clause is activated by his fathers health deteriorating

Milford doesn't have a want to live in Brisbane clause in his contract. His clause is as relevant as Hoffman chucking the shits and wanting out.

Similar grounds in that they both want out for personal reasons and have absolutely no grounds to demand said release and both clubs are well entitled to stand their ground. So yeah, id say there is some pretty strong similarities between the two

Milford has a get-out clause. Hoffman does not. Those are facts.

It's when Raiders fans start enacting their double degrees in Law and Medicine that the speculation around grounds for release (and subsequent hilarity) starts.

Milford clause is not legally able to be enacted based on the situation, otherwise it would have been by now and he'd be a bronco. So no, Milford doesnt have a get out clause

His get out clause is the NRL taking the Broncos side in any dispute because small market teams don't matter *loses all of southern NSW to AFL....gets confused as to why*

Does anyone honestly think that if the Milford get out clause was actionable we'd be here where are right now? Not a chance, Nov 1, he'd have enacted the clause and he'd already be signed by the Broncos.

the reason this is still an ongoing saga is because his get out clause obviously isnt actionable, so he's stuck seeing out his contract in canberra

yeah, you probably would been happy to let Darren Lockyer walk as a 19 year old without much fuss. what evs
Get off the air pal, no one is buying it.

Don't really care what you think. Lockyer at 19 was playing with blokes like Langer, Walters ect. If he left, he left. It's not my choice where he played, we lost Hunt at a very young age, but I didn't kick up a fuss when he left, and certainly would welcome him back to the club. To be honest I would rather have Hunt back and playing 6 over Milford in the 6. We have lost plenty of talent in my time supporting the club that I would much rather have seen remain, no point is complaining over someone else's life choices.

doesn't really answer my question, if his dad is so sick how can he leave him and traipse of to a WC on the other side of the world?? And just to let you know Canberra is a lot closer to Brisbane than pommy land. He signed his latest contract after his dad sick anyway, seems to me the Broncos are waving more cash at him than the Raiders.

Of course it answered your question. When has ANYONE said Milford has to be by his father's bed 24/7? Assuming that's what he is saying is the only way my earlier response doesn't answer your question and being at someone's bedside 24/7 is ridiculous for anyone who has other responsibilities in life, not just NRL players.

He has said he want's to be near his family more often then he can playing at Canberra, which living in SEQ will allow him to do.

However if he continues to play NRL he will be away from his family regularly because of the travel demands, even if it is at the Broncos.

Being away briefly from his family isn't the issue. Being away constantly is. Yeah it's a 2hr flight or a 13+ hour drive, but what time do flights stop at night in Canberra? He can't just jump on a flight whenever he wants. He has his own life, NRL commitments and real travel hurdles to overcome if he needs to get to his father's side ASAP (should the worst happen).

Honestly, the hysteria over this is getting ridiculous. He had that clause put in in case this situation developed. It has and now the Raiders are looking like the biggest hypocrites in league.

Sign a currently contracted coach with a clause allowing a release, refuse a player with the same thing, but a compassionate reason on top of a contractual one.

You'll have to explain to me why they havent used it already?

Why is Milford apparently telling people he isnt going to report to the raiders, when he can just activate the release any time he wants? Why is the circus continuing if Milford and his team can walk any time they like?

Your stuart butt hurt shining through El

I live in canberra, fly to brisbane often to see my in laws.
I know what its about. You can literally lob in to canberra airport 30 minutes before the flight takes off and get on (Milford in such circumstances probably wouldnt even need to check luggage since he'd probably have stuff there), so he can pretty lob in at boarding time, 2 hour flight and he's there with his parents.

It's not a big deal. From leaving home to arriving at his parents house, it's probably 4 hours if you get awful traffic coming out of Brisbane Airport.

He has a get out clause. He's entirely within his rights to leave the club. Canberra is in the wrong here 1000%. f**k you're one of the stupidest merkins on here.
LOL!

If Milford can just activate his clause and walk away his manager wouldn't be pissing and moaning about it.

Use your head, you dumb f**k.

So why hasnt he already? Simple question right
He clearly wants out, so why on earth is he sticking around going through this circus?

If it was as open and shut as you seem to think it is, he'd already be a Bronco. There is a reason he isnt, and its because the raiders arent agreeing to release him and the only way they can do that is if they have legal grounds to deny the release.

If he could, he would have by now

if you are so sure he can't leave why have the Raiders offered him more money to stay?

clearly there is no reason to do so if things are like you say

fact is they aren't and he's gone

Wow, you're a clueless genius in all threads. I just thought it may have been limited to the ElephantJuice in sport thread.
