haha yep, I hate that "fishing" stuff. I was acting like an idiot, but it's on purpose. Just parodying the situation which seems to be a massive overreaction. Admittedly, from both sides.

The worst possible news for Canberra.

They're probably unlikely to be challenging for a premiership in 2014. So all they're doing is paying Milford to spend another year improving as a player, while he takes games and oppurtunities away from players who will be part of Canberras future. And then when he is a year closer to his prime he leaves.

The ideal situation for the Raiders would have been for him to sign an extension to stay. Failing that the next best scenario would have been for him to leave now and for them to move on and focus on players with a long term future in Canberra.

Canberra should have just done the decent thing in the first place and let him leave like they stipulated in his f**king contract. Broncos fans should hope Ricky doesnt destroy his career in one season before he heads north.

The Raiders have held onto the most talented kid in the game and bought themselves another 12 months to come up with a solution to keep him long term.

Yes horrible news for Raiders fans. :sarcasm:

Brisbane will announce today that he is signing for 2015 and 2016.

There was no "let him leave" clause in the contract.

Happy with the result. Might have only have him for a season but at least we messed up the Broncos dirty little plans a bit.

Just like they weren't able to get him out of the contract with you, you won't be able to get him out of the contract with them.

I would beg to differ. Under the NRL's rules, where a player is coming off contract and they get an offer from another club, the club they are under contract does have a right to match the offer from the other club even if the player has signed a contract (e.g. Josh Pappali with Parramatta). Thus for Canberra, from a technical view point, they don't have any impediment. Whether they can persuade Milford to stay? That might be a different matter for all I know.

Suck a fat one pal, if his clause was able to be legally enacted, it would be. The Raiders are well within thier rights to keep him... just as they are well within their rights to continue to work on something to keep him up until round 13 next year.

Until round 13 next year, the contract he signed isnt worth the paper it's written on. I cant see a Papalii situation eventuating here, but stranger things have happened

Scum cant develop their own juniors so they let other clubs do it for them, smart from a business perspective.

At least its over now and we can have a decent look at potential replacements off contract next season
