I would beg to differ. Under the NRL's rules, where a player is coming off contract and they get an offer from another club, the club they are under contract does have a right to match the offer from the other club even if the player has signed a contract (e.g. Josh Pappali with Parramatta). Thus for Canberra, from a technical view point, they don't have any impediment. Whether they can persuade Milford to stay? That might be a different matter for all I know.

You are correct. Nothing much has changed for the Raiders, save for the fact he's signed another deal. But the situation is the same, good young player wanting to leave and we've got to try and convince him to stay

I was very confident Papalii would backflip, and he did. I dont see any way Milford backflips right now. A lot would have to change for him to backflip.

Pretty obvious since Cyril Connells passing the broncos have struggled in the juniors department. Shows just how good he really was at identifying junior talent and bringing them through the broncos ranks.

I wonder if Canberra fans ever think anyone of note will sign with them after the treatment of this young man.

Regardless of the reasons he clearly does not want to be there and hasn't for the better part of the year.

Instead of acting like a pack of brats they should have sort compensation from the Broncos and both parties should have moved on.

That being said I am not suprised considering they'd sign someone of Stuarts complete lack of character.

Just ask the Raiders how pleased they are the broncos poached their top scout who identified most if not all their current crop of young talent to come out of logan, including milford, papali, brenko and edric lee to name a few.

They are signing all the right people on and off the field. Broncos will make the 8 next year and tp 4 and title contenders the following year. If we land can smith we will be hard to beat in 2015

It doesnt worry us as much as you guys seem to think it should.
The Raiders pathways system is well established, kids know we can get from 15 year old talents and develop them into NRL footballers. Edwards isnt going to change the tide in any significant way. He'll just make sure the Broncos are completely striking out. We're still going to get ours.

Remember we had a shit side according to everyone including some bronco fans. Now though it'll be like the old days where we're over rated nuffies one minute and super stars the next when it suits.

Personally I have always felt we were a big forward ( Kennedy ), a half ( milford ) and a fullback ( barba ) away from a top 4 side. If we land cam smith that is just gravy.

I think it comes down to coaching moreso.

I could count on 1 hand the number of Broncos players worth feeding that were developed by either Griffin or Ivan the terrible. That chequebook is gonna get a real workout once the last of Bennett's brigade moves on.

It will a top scout is worth their weight in gold. Look at what the storm scout has done when moving clubs. The rooeters have benefited from him greatly since they landed him while storm have dropped off. It won't effect the raiders for a few more years but it will. Also look at the drop when cyrell wentt from the broncos who had plenty in place. Time will tell.

I think fitness and a few players in key positions have been our biggest problems. All these things are being fixed. Signed the storms fitness guru in Corvo, signed players in the right positions and the gravy is a top scout and putting him in charge of on of the top league nurseries in the country.
