Not ahead of Brisbane surely?
Imagine getting wiped off the floor in your own backyard...

You've been belted in your own backyard so savagely that you've had to resort to inticing developed talent to break contracts, throwing stacks at cash to lure a scout away and spend millions in some tower of execellence
Just to get a slice of their own friggin pie!

The Broncos are the undisputed kings of the "best look after your own backyard" competition right now.

I think the bigger issue for the Raiders is that Marsden State High has swiched the Football program to the Broncos. Majority of the boys coming out of Logan currently graduate for there.

They won't be able to stop a club from taking the player to court for trying to back out of the terms of his signed contract.

Infact, the club could take the NRL to court over not registering the contract...

They could... but again, to what end?

And when that question gets asked, is when the Lawyers stop getting paid, because as i said:

A. all participants are aware of this situation, they know going in that the NRL as the governing body will not register a contract until a certain date. Very good chance the courts would want absolutely no part in this and simply dismiss it saying the parties entered into the negotation with the understanding that this was the case, there for they assumed the risk of it happening.

b. even if they win... then what? some cash but no player? Player is forced to see out his deal at a club he doesnt want to be at?
It is not as if this is a secret rule that the parties are unaware about. They are aware and negotiate deals knowing full well that the deal isnt ratified by the governing sporting body until date X.

Hard to imagine a club wasting valuable time, money and resources challenging it in court when the outcomes are not desirable even if they win.

They could challenge it in court. As the Eels could have with Papalii, the Raiders with Nathan Smith (teehee) and Souths with Luke Lewis... but none of them did... why? Because it's ultimately a pointless exercise with a real risk of losing anyway.

They go there because that's where we send them when we sign them as 14 year olds on scholarships. We have set ups with other schools now. Our boys will just be redirected to the school we've got a system with. Not much changes there.

The Broncos deal is water-tight. Milford’s management revealed the Brisbane contract had no potential escape-clauses – even relating to the controversial Round 13 transfer rule.

‘‘That clause [the Round 13 escape clause] has been removed from his contract,’’ Ayoub said.

‘‘We played with the cards we were dealt and decided to take appropriate action to relieve Anthony of the pressure he’s been under ... we’re satisfied with the outcome.

Interesting.
Ayoub hasnt exactly showered himself in the truth thus far in this whole fiasco, so im not sure if that actually means what he claims it does, but it is indeed interesting.

This could be completely shutting the door on the round 13 thing, or just another part of a contract that doesnt mean jack to the NRL until round 13.
Interesting

Not that i think it matters either way. I was very confident of keeping Papalii even after he'd signed for the Eels, i dont think there is any chance Milford back flips even if he can.

Wighton 2016 - signed post Stuart
Edrick Lee 2017 - signed post Stuart
Josh Papalii 2016 - signed pre Stuart, except the club he spurned was a Stuart coached side at the time
Tevita Pengai 2016 - signed post Stuart
Tahakilu Pangai 2016 - signed post Stuart

Patrick Mago's brother has just signed on to play for our U20's and his family has moved to Canberra (cant remember when he's signed on until)

Brenko Lee is expected to re-sign with the club before kick off next year (negotiation on the deal has already begun)

Dont worry too much about us, sweet cheeks. Best focus on your own backyard.
This pretty much sums up what I was saying. Lose one keep a heap. Pretty bloody good outcome in the scheme of things.

Probably not. Was something in the paper anout a school that had atleast five senior players signed to clubs. Two broncos, two raiders and one titan. Might have bee that school. Being aligned to a school just makes it easier for you, doesn't guarantee you the pick of the litter
